Yes, I've revived the BLIZZARD thread. There's new information about this historic snowfall.

Winter may be my favorite time of year on MOL, because of max_weisenfeld <img src=">

I love max!  rolleyes

I love Max's weather info as well.  I will refrain from asking him if I have to get one child back to school in MD, and another child to a sports event near Trenton on Sunday, will it be possible?

Think he'd be able to tell us whether, if the old SAT, offered for the last time on Saturday morning, is postponed, the rescheduled one will be the old or the new?

Is it too early to start shoveling?

Is it too early to start panicing??

I have to get a couple of children back to school out of state this weekend, too. So this one is personal.

As of this morning, we are still seeing the uncertainty between the Euro and the GFS, so I am going to wait one more model run at least before veturing a forecast.

The rest remains status quo: the nor'easter is coming, it will bring some noticeable wind and snow,  but exactly how much is still unknown. Timing looks like Friday night through all of Saturday, but that could still shift some.  Possibility of rain mixing in at the end has started to show up, it is one of the things I hope to get some clarity on later today

the temps look to be around freezing (as opposed to much colder) in the forecasts so that means heavier snow?

What kind of wine pairs well with Nor'easter?

Waiting on tenterhooks -- youngest has a big audition in Newark Saturday morning. He's been prepping for months. Would love to know in advance if it's a no-go, but waiting on the weather gods until tomorrow to call them....

ice wine, of course.

Or alternatively, who says you cant open up a rose in the winter? I give you "rose snow cones".

My kingdom for a "Like" button!

Also, remember a few storms ago when a separate thread was launched for storm-related silliness so that Max's main thread would remain purely (well, mostly) informational? Maybe a new thread needs launching in the next day or so...........

I agree, when (if) storm nears then we need a "Max only" thread for serious updates.

We could keep this one for questions about when to shovel, people who post the snow totals in their location (nowhere near Maplewood), wine recommendations, bad puns, and the exchange of chili recipes.

My memory is certainly not what it once was, but IIRC there was a lot of discussion about separating out the chatter from the actual forecasts, but I don't think it actually happened. Seems to me like the majority opinion (mine included) was that we enjoyed the jokey sidelines and such.

I will repeat that my memory may be faulty. And possibly biased by the fact that I was among those who didn't want separate threads. Feel free to ignore me if either or both of these things is true.

The weather police always want it "weather only." It never works...

Not Chardonnay, though. That may make the snow yellow.

If I ever start a new band, Weather Police is going to be on the shortlist of band names.

I'd go see them!  cheese

Snow question, I recently purchased a new snowblower from P and P.  How much gas do they normally deliver the new unit with?  Do I need to have extra gas right away (this storm will be the maiden use)?

It's winter, this is the northeast, it snows, and we've had a truly lame winter so far. Don't like snow, don't live in the northeast.

Ahhh, the 2010 memories...I want THREE feet of snow!!!

Gosh, I feel like maybe you've mentioned this before.

I would not be surprised if the new unit was delivered completely empty. I would make sure you have a couple of gallons before the storm.

And premium gas only. Higher octane, less ethanol.Avoid damaging your new machine. Also read owners manual. May be some directions as to timing of first oil change after X amt of hours used.

Maybe they could debut at a Rent Party concert.

No ice wine for me. How about mulled wine? Or gluhwein?
