World Series!

Yup. One sinker that didn't sink, and the whole series looks different. Admittedly the Royals are a tough matchup for the Mets. But it's not like Harvey got hit hard. And neither did Colon when he gave up the winning run. The Royals looked tremendous in the 5th inning yesterday without a doubt. But this team isn't unbeatable. In the regular season they won only 5 games more than the Mets. Tomorrow night will be the turning point. Either the Royals go up 3-0 and essentially make this a foregone conclusion, or the Mets win one at home and make it a series. If Syndergaard is on, even KC will have a hard time with him. It's obviously a very small sample, but their BA against pitches over 97 MPH is a lot lower than it is below. And that's where Syndergaard is when he's at his best. And he's got a great curveball, which is something that neither Harvey nor deGromm really has. They each throw one, but it's their 4th best pitch. It's Syndergaard's 2nd best. I hope the fans bring some energy tomorrow. I think they will. And if Syndergaard has a good first inning, the place will be rocking.

But if Famiglia closes Game 1, we're singing a completely different song.

KC does look very good and are out-playing the Mets. If this continues and KC wins I would resign my self to that. No more two hit games, please. eeks.

I agree with ml1, with the addition that bats could maybe speak even more loudly than Thor. Smack Ventura around, win 9-3, with a Cespedes bomb somewhere in the mix, and the comeback machine will really be firing.

Hey, a guy dream, can't he?

that should have gone without saying. but I should have mentioned that the team does need to start scoring a lot more runs. I think being at home will help there. The Mets should be a lot more comfortable hitting in their own park.

People keep saying "Familia, the one sinker that didn't sink" but they didn't lose the game on that pitch... that just tied the game. It's like everyone that thinks the Mets won the '86 Series when the ball went through Buckner's legs... They had plenty of opportunity to win that game and Wright's error didn't help.

My brother made a similar comment saying "One bad pitch and we're down 2-0" forgetting that not only did that not end the game but that they weren't going to win Game 2 by the score of 1-0... they need to hit... you're not going to win games with two hits by Lucas Duda (unless they're Grand Slams)...

I feel like they got to the World Series on great pitching but streaky hitting.. Duda on that Home Run tear, and Cespedes knocking the cover off the ball then Murph tearing it up and without those anomalies the rest of the team has been mostly flat and watching to many called third strikes go by.... hopefully coming home will rejuvenate them

Not a Mets fan but I have enjoyed their run. The Royals are playing un-conscious baseball. If they keep at it, there will not be much the Mets can do. You have to figure they will come down to earth. You can waste that many two-strike pitches only so many games in a row.

The question is whether the Mets will ever hit (and whether Murphy will stop questioning called strikes).

While the Royals have been relentless and are playing incredibly well, the Mets lost game 1 because of their errors; they lost game 2 because they didn't even bother to show up. Hopefully, something will awaken them before tonight's game at Citifield - otherwise put a fork in them.

Royals win probability went from 9.9% to 56.3% on that single pitch from Familia to Gordon:

I think your 2015 Mets show up tonight and tomorrow night and make it a three game series. I think the energy at CitiField is going to be contagious. The Mets will take the lead early and pitching will keep them there.

If I hear that the Royals "put the ball in play" one more time, I shall scream. question

I think the Mets should start thinking about breaking this team up. Been a fun 120 days but everything has to end some time.

I guess KC should have broken up their team after last year's World Series loss, huh? If you get to the championship series but don't win it, its a sure sign you have incurable flaws (despite the substantial track record of sports teas coming back to win it all after a failed bid the year before)

Alex Rodriguez spoke out in support of the Mets last night on The Tonight Show...some conflicted Mets fans now want their team to get swept.

Man, those Royals sure put the ball in play though.....

(Waiting for mlj to scream about.....now!)

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH zipper

I didn't realize, until I just the NYT article, that deGrom had zero swings and misses during Game 2. That's incredible.

My prediction is a 6-2 Royals win.

This is already depressing.

This is so exciting! Let's go Mets!

Mets i.e.' really need to stop looking at so many pitches.

Agreed. Duda should have gone after that last one.

Should have been "Metsies", damn auto correx

Now KC is making the errors. Sweet.

A few more runs would be sweet.

Quick aside: Salvador Perez is a heckuva catcher.

How many bats have gotten sawed off tonight?
