What do Putin and Xi think about DJT?

Just learned that Sanders and his wife spent their honeymoon in Russia. Maybe, the Russians would love having a POTUS with fond Russian memories?

I'm surprised you, someone who posts so strongly, just learned this. Its been brought up numerous times here that Sander's Russian honeymoon will used against him.

Maybe the critiques you've gotten for being at times non responsive are unfair. It could just be your lack of attention.

Don’t worry about it.
If Bernie has any fond memories, they are of Communist Russia.

Of all Oscar winners he could choose, he goes to Gone With the Wind???!!
(Did ‘10’ win?? What about The Sting?? Patton?? A Man For All Seasons??)

GWTW is the most racist of all Best Picture winners.

That's why it was chosen.

He mentioned a second movie too, but I've forgotten which.

ETA: Sunset Blvd. was the other. Don't know why he picked that one. It was not a Best Picture winner. Maybe it was self-referential and he identified with Norma Desmond.

 see my prior post update.

BOAN preceded the Oscars. And the reference would have gone over the heads of 99% of the rally audience. Even GWTW had a tepid response.

For anyone not understanding the reference, its to what President Ugly American was rambling about last evening.

Silent Film by DW Griffith that romanticized the KKK.  Just another one of our quaint American quirks.

The distributor of the winner of the Best Picture Oscar responds.

oh oh

Given the scathing international reaction to his commentary, not to mention the blazing satirical cartoons and clips - and I’m still talking about internationally generated, not domestic - you’d think your head of State would act more like a grown-up... pulled down the prestige of a domestic industry & award; boosted sales of a competitor’s product (well, that’s what he’s complaining about); possibly diminished demand for some of your domestic products as a result in protest; stirred up more trouble with the Koreas and China through the scoffing...

It’s late, I’m headachey and grumpy. I shouldn’t write. Sorry.
I shudder to think who were the pin-ups in his teenage bedroom.

I'll take WTF is Trump babbling on about now? for 400 please, Alex.

I knew that answer, too. Both of them, in fact.

As long as we're all over the place, I ask: Is it even possible to read an article about Roger Stone without the detail about the Nixon tat?

You are asking whether there might be some people who are still unaware of a fact like this?  On a thread where the OP wrote yesterday:

President who doesn't understand that ALL CAPS doesn't make it less dishonest.

While disregarding that the massive tariff money is paid for by the American consumer. Another example of the ridiculous dribble he poops on the really stupids, who eat this up while cheering him on.

He screws up trade so that the farmers are hurting. The result is they need additional Federal farm subsidies. Subsidies coming primarily from blue states.

And yet, farmers will likely vote to reelect him realizing that their lucrative subsidy bandwagon may end if the Democrats take over.

Watched about half the debate last night, and, felt sad. Bloomberg most likely has never raised a hand to hail a cab, catch the attention of a waiter, or ask to speak before in his life. He demonstrated this lack of  knowledge last night. Going for the stony face, tight-lipped look, he used eye-rolling as his communication tool.

I didn’t see any “winner” last night.

California has been flaunting its liberal image and lifestyle, while denigrating Washington and POTUS every chance it gets. Hollywood stars shriek the liberal message from safe within their designer clothes and mansions. Who walks the streets in its cities?

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/19/us/california-homeless.html

How do you spell chutzpah? The California governor and state legislators just might have to choke a little when they seek assistance to  get out of the hole they helped dig. Speaking of state legislators, the first one who needs to go is Nancy Pelosi. She should have stayed home for more than a weekend or two, and gone for a long walk in San Francisco to see what is happening in her home state.

Excerpt:

“Homelessness declined in most states in 2019, compared with the year before, according to a report published in January by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. But in California, it increased by 16 percent, or 21,306 people, the report said.

“Mr. Newsom called homelessness a national crisis in his speech, but did not acknowledge the outsized role that California plays in the problem. Nearly half of all unsheltered people in the United States live in California, though the state accounts for just 12 percent of the U.S. population.

“But Mr. Newsom did not hold back from describing the severity of the problem, saying at one point, “We own it.”

Parts of the governor’s speech called for immediate, concrete measures. He announced that 286 state-owned properties, including fairgrounds, armories and vacant lots, were available as of Wednesday for local governments to use for “homelessness solutions.”

“One hundred camping trailers used by the state during emergencies would be deployed across the state for temporary shelter, he said.”

Are there pool houses, cabanas, guest houses, four car garages with apartments above, etc,  ready to be offered by Hollywood’s rich and famous? We shall see — or not.

When California’s housing crisis slammed into a wealthy suburb, one public servant became a convert to a radically simple doctrine.

I don't think too many conservatives are YIMBYs and, to their discredit, a great many liberals are quite conservative when it comes to housing issues.

this op-Ed has a hard look at all the candidates. An exercpt here:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/20/opinion/nevada-democrats-debate.html

“Worse still was Mr. Sanders’s response to questions about the divisiveness of his campaign, most particularly the vitriolic slice of supporters known as Bernie Bros. An aggressive subset of these fans, known for harassing those who criticize their man, were a problem in 2016, and they are a problem today. In Las Vegas on Wednesday, Pete Buttigieg pointed out that some of the senator’s acolytes were currently tangled up in a nasty fight with a powerful local labor union, the Culinary Workers, that had criticized Mr. Sanders’s Medicare for All plan.

“The candidate’s response was, first, to play down the problem. “If there are a few people who make ugly remarks,” he said, “I disown those people.” He then sought to turn the tables, lamenting the “vicious, racist, sexist attacks” that the African-American women on his campaign had endured. He then suggested that it wasn’t his real supporters behaving badly, but maybe Russian bots. “I’m not saying that’s happening, but it would not shock me.”

His unmitigated anger is getting hard to watch.

I started that one, but realized it is pointless. There are so few YIMBYs and so many who even get offended when even suggesting that SUVs are awful, even here, that I didn’t want to waste the energy.

Rush Limbaugh explains it all for you in a clip aired on Lawrence O'Donnell: the WMD fiasco in the GWB administration may well have been a previous plot by the Deep State to humiliate Bush, who lost the popular vote and was "voted" into office by SCOTUS. The DS wanted Gore. Maybe they knew there were no WMD and just made Bush think there were. Fcuking Deep Staters. Good thing we have Medal of Freedom winner Rush to explain it all.

That would make Rush part of the "Deep State" pushing GWB to war …

It's all so confusing.

I think a lot of us have had more than enough primary analysis — I thought perhaps this news story from France might offer stress relief.

The photo is obviously of Venice, but couldn’t find something amusing about France!

The primary season sloughs onward toward what exactly? A Socialist America, a far, far left America, or a lesser of two evils choice by the  voters?

In interims between watching debates, many of us, along with me, stream political dramas with deception and anxiety, or deep state plots and counter plots, playing out on 55” screens in our own media war rooms at home. No weekly waiting periods to clear the mind — thanks to Netflix, etc.

I loved House of Cards, Homeland, Designated Survivor, etc etc,  along with many similarly themed series from Europe. It got me wondering if we are being preconditioned toward seeing nefarious political intrigue as almost the norm in governments, with subsequent mistrust of government thinking instinctively on high alert. The bogeyman is everywhere.

What is real, and what is fiction?

What is real?  The Trump strategy to encourage distrust in institutions comprised of dedicated, honest public servants.

What is fiction?  Trump presents himself as the only one who can be trusted, as the alternative to these "Enemies of the People".
