The Rose Garden and White House happenings: Listening to voters’ concerns

For most American's, corruption is a bug.  For Trump voters, it is a feature.  There is no other way to explain their continued support of the President and his Cabinet of the Worst.  They are all in on corruption, malfeasance and treason.

Both Deplorable and Irredeemable.

If the MeToo movement had been on the scene when Bill Clinton’s affair with a young female intern was uncovered, the political world would be a different one today. The charges against Clinton were indefensible, no matter if the ambitious young woman may have been willing. With today’s woke “awareness,” his impeachment, bipartisan and not political, would have ended the Clinton political era.

who knows what would happen in such a hypothetical?  But I'd be willing to bet cash money that if the accusation against Trump was that he had an affair with one of the young women on his staff that the Democrats wouldn't be impeaching him.  Maybe censure.  Maybe nothing.  But I couldn't see them moving on impeaching Teflon Don over a sexual harassment accusation.

Says the supporter of a President with literally dozens of credible accusations of rape and sexual abuse.

Something is indefensible....

I love the way Sans slips a little misogynist shiv in here. True to form.

You are on probation, right? Slippery slope here.

 I’m not.   You’re a disgrace.

Ummm.... no, I am not on probation.  Are you?

Since were shifting philisopiies through time, I think that if the 2019 MTierney were to transport back to 97 she would be blaming Monica.

See how that works?   You’re a disgrace.

I am kind of intrigued by Sans probation idea.  Has she been working behind the scenes to get those who disagree with her banned?

When intellect fails there is always censorship.

This promise will eventually put a halt to Warren’s bid. Raising taxes and eliminating jobs and profits to support this healthcare pipe dream will end her socialist plan.

Protecting a profit motive in health care means that much to you?

So now GOP senators are saying that Trump did in fact withhold US military aide to Ukraine to get them to investigate his political rival, but that that is not an impeachable offense. The party of rot. The longer Trump is around the more lasting damage he does to the GOP, I really believe that. It's the only silver lining I see with him. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/growing-number-of-gop-senators-consider-acknowledgingtrumps-quid-pro-quo-on-ukraine/2019/11/01/72084a3e-fcc4-11e9-9534-e0dbcc9f5683_story.html

what would Jesus say about Medicare for All?

The Jesus I learned about in Catholic school would have been 100% in favor. He probably also would have said there is no moral reason for the existence of billionaires.

Your Jesus might be different though.

I guess I have my answer.

What Does Your Faith Community Say About Medicare for All?

The Catholic Church
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has repeatedly stated that healthcare is a basic human right, saying in 2013 that, “Coverage should be truly universal and should not be denied to those in need because of their condition, age, where they come from or when they arrive here. Providing affordable and accessible health care that clearly reflects these fundamental principles is a public good and moral imperative.”

If this thread has proven anything, it is that mtierney does not give a damn about Jesus.  If he were to come knocking on her door tomorrow, she would be on the phone to ICE instantly demanding that the illegal immigrant from Palestine be stuck in a cage. He'd be lucky to make it off the porch without catching a bottle of mace in the face.

Her Jesus doesn't exist

how about responding to my post?  I'm curious how you are reconciling your religion with your opposition to universal health coverage.

I love Brother Klink! He and I agree on most things, including this topic. He just has a strange fixation against Biden, but I think I can talk him out of it.

Funny that other industrialized countries manage to support some type of universal healthcare, a healthcare that would be decried as Utopian and socialist here by Republicans and the stupids of America.

Which brings up the question. If we can't afford what dozens of other countries afford then how can we say we are the richest country in the world?

Well, we have an answer to the question.

But we don't have your answer to the question.

Mtierney complains that we can't get a respectful dialog going here, but yet again I sincerely try to engage and I'm ignored.

I find it quite curious that here we have churches and church-charity based support organisations advising our government to increase the amount and range of both our Medicare scheme and our social security scheme (especially unemployment benefit). One of the loudest voices is is the Catholic Church. So it's quite ironic to see the Victorian era arguments against such support promoted as 'Christian values'.

H'm. I wonder what Caroline Chisholm and Saint Sr Mary MacKillop would say?
