The Rose Garden and White House happenings: Listening to voters’ concerns

I can't say that I care for the way this sort of talk casts her as the victim.  She and her ilk are most certainly the perpetrators.  Even Buffalo Bill balked at putting children in his cage.

Meanwhile, from our Constitutional Scholar-in-Chief:

Trump to reporters on the Constitution, just now:  “Read Article Two, which gives the President powers you wouldn’t believe."

Constitutional Scholar-in-Chief? Apparently so.
Sadly the senate concurs and possibly the SC.
Who knew the power of the purse reserved by our constitution to the house can be changed by presidential decree, such as the paying for his border wall. Also his many other executive decrees such as national security tariffs.
The senate does not object. Will the SC object? Will the house really object or simply bloviate?

You know, what comes around goes around. The SC will probably protect the Boss, just like the Senate will. But by doing so it will set precedent, and there will be a day when a Democratic WH + Senate will be in play, and then they have much more leeway than in the past to do all kinds of good things (healthcare, climate change, taxes, foreign policy, gun control, infrastructure, education, just to name a few; all they have to do is declare an emergency).

Demographically speaking, white republicans are a dying demographic. They fight like hell, and they gerrymander, and they steal SC seats, but they are a dying breed thank goodness.

While everyone is yelling at one another, AOC and Ted Cruz are working together on a bill to ban elected officials from becoming lobbyists after they are out of office.

Ted Cruz can do this because he is planning on never leaving office.  The hubris on that melted Ken Doll!

or perhaps it's because he knows everyone in Congress already hates him.

only possible solution for Democrats, it seems, would be to stifle, cripple, or silence the opposition. Competition is not on their agenda.

Why leave?

Being a servant of the people can be so rewarding. The Clinton's served and their worth is now over 100 million. Our lifelong socialist servant, Bernie Sanders, will get a congressional pension of about 74,000 a year should he retire now.

The Harry Truman era is over.

Interesting article that has nothing to do with what you wrote.

NK executed their nuclear envoy to the U.S. And Kim is the guy that Trump understands and admires, his friend?

Trump's lack of decency and morality is incredible.

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea executed its nuclear envoy to the United States as part of a purge of officials who steered negotiations for a failed summit between leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump, a South Korean newspaper said on Friday.

Now that's definitely worse than having your boss say something mean about you on the Twitter.

I think, if I may, that she is saying that the criticism of Fox in the article and talk of somehow limiting them is an attempt to "stifle, cripple, or silence the opposition".

Of course, her labeling Fox as "the opposition" tells us all we need to know about Fox's role as a "news" organization.

 Good grief, DB got it!

While Fox is labeled as a Trump outlet, no one ever worries about CBS,NBC,ABC, MSNBC, CNN, NYT, etc etc which blast and print anti-Trump commentary all the time.

Why do you think one outlet presents such fear and hatred?

because scaring old white people is good for business.

 Money, obviously.

Imagine how mtierney would react if we altered her posts when quoting her the way the deplorables did with the Pelosi video.  I mean, if she is really ok with those sort of shenanigans, I'd almost be tempted to give it a shot if I wasn't restrained by a minimal commitment to honor, decency and honesty.

not obvious to me. Can you explain?

May I make an apolitical observation? I watch the liberal cable channels as well. Why is it that the male anchors (with the exception of Anderson Copper) appear cranky and belligerent? IMHO, Cuomo, Blitzer, and Trapper need a timeout.  On the other hand, I like Erin Burnett and most of the female anchors. Viewers don’t want to be scolded  or made to feel stupid if they do not see things in the same way.

Personally, I can’t watch Hannity. Sheppard’s glossy show gives me vertigo — too much camera work, split screens and ever-moving host. So content is as important as delivery — we all have too many distractions to cope with stuff which we find annoying.

We have our latest national emergency, requiring major tariffs on Mexico. Funny how these emergencies happen so suddenly .

When Trump's kitchen gets hot, he's on a hot seat, a convenient emergency occurs, the diversion. The hot seat now being Mueller's report and the ramped up talk of impeachment.

Being a sociopathic narcissist he has no problem with screwing everything to meet his personal needs.

What will he do if the kitchen gets really hot? Like Oct 2020 and it looking like he may lose re-election? Ramp up a national emergency war with Iran?

Don't worry, the conservatives have always stood, on principle, against presidential overreach. They will never let that happen.

One of Trump's personal friends kills a few of his closest advisors because they messed up a meeting, I don't see what is really newsworthy about that. It's not like he beat Trump at golf or something. Why are we even taking about this?

You would have been so much happier had the President and his team screwed up the negotiations —  tongue rolleye

can conservative thought force its way through the liberal lock-down?

They're screwing up the whole situation.  Just because Kim had people on his team killed doesn't change that fact.

I don't think you accurately summarized the take-away from that piece; actually, you reversed it.

Here's the concluding paragraph:

"Here’s what stares me in the face: Ahmari’s life story — a Muslim immigrant who wound up becoming a Trumpian moralist by way of Marxism and then free-market conservatism — is a tribute to the value-neutral liberalism he now claims to despise. Whatever hopes remain of a decent conservative movement rest in rejecting the illiberalism he now embraces — the one that would close the door to some future Ahmari, embarking on an experiment in living all his own."

It's like writing, "Kim killed his negotiators.  That's a relief, I thought it was something our side had done."

The guy that delivered the "very nice appreciation letter" is now also in a prison camp. Just confirms that everything Trump touches goes to sh1t
