The Tearing Apart of the Democratic Party

 Never mind the BOACs ...

Back to topic, looks like the Bernie Bots are at it again. I mentioned in the other thread on how they went after Warren and journalists who raised questions that may not play favorable to Bernie. Now its Biden.

"Sen. Bernie Sanders apologized to fellow 2020 contender Joe Biden for an op-ed by one of his campaign surrogates that suggested the former vice president has a "corruption problem."

"It is absolutely not my view that Joe is corrupt in any way. And I'm sorry that that op-ed appeared," the Vermont senator told CBS News."

"These kinds of attacks have no place in this primary," Biden said. "Let's all keep our focus on making Donald Trump a one-term president."

Who's next? Klobuchar or Mayor Pete?

This is one of the reasons I started this thread. The Bernie Bots are now resembling the crazed MAGA supporters. And we've seen how they contributed in tearing apart the Republican Party.

How about Hillary blasting Bernie...harsh.

 I have a virus. I’m very tired.

Yes, that too. She still feels Bernie did not go all out for her in the last election.

Sour grapes.

I'm still waiting to hear how Biden's over aged coke head son got that Naval Commission.  Is there an explanation of that episode that doesn't involve a corruption problem?

The purpose of the primaries is to vet the candidates. Don't think that Trump won't tear Biden limb from limb over that one.

I don't think Bernie should get away with just blaming "the Bernie Bots.

His press secretary pushed the article by Professor Teachout.

David Sirota, his speechwriter, pushed it also.

Bernie backed off when his campaign got called on it.  He's crossing into Trumpish behavior with this nonsense.

If you want to talk about tearing apart the party, I think this practice of demonizing Bernie supporters is definitely helping with that.  If you really want to depress turnout in the left wing of the party come November, just go ahead labelling a good chunk of the progressives "bots".

Nobody's "labelling a good chunk of the progressives 'bots'."

But that percentage of self-described progressives who follow Sirota's lead, and the lead of other Bernie fans who are incredibly negative about other candidates, shouldn't complain if people have negative reactions to them.

Staffers tell Biden that he needs to get some bots of his own.

Biden tells staffers he will grab some butts right away.

Dude. Its called a primary.  Stuff happens.  Get over it.

As long as folks turn out for the traditional Manure Sandwich Feed in November, you have nothing to complain about.

It's very strange the degree to which people are slamming Sanders supporters in a discussion titled "The tearing apart of the Democratic Party." Maybe the best way to stop the tearing apart of the party is to stop tearing apart the other members of the party.

Yeah, but that's not happening, is it?

Hey, I've already reserved my place at the table.  The cast majority of Bernie supporters dined on the Stercuswich in 2016 and I am sure they will be back for seconds in 2020, assuming a progressive does not secure the nomination.

Its a bit of an if/then.  If you are going to insist on criticizing people about conducting a primary campaign then have a little awareness of your own glass house.

Wow, talking about calling the kettle black, the same person who is on a serious jihad against Biden.

I am not demonizing all Bernie supporters. I don't paint all Bernie supporters in the same broad stroke.  As nohero pointed out, there is a certain segment of his supporters that are doing more harm than good in their support for Bernie.

If he happens to become the Democratic nominee, I will support him.

I didn't criticize people for "conducting a primary campaign".

I don't know.  I'm seeing an awful lot of whining here.  I suppose that is just what happens whenever someone questions the moderate (conservative) place of privilege in the Democratic Party.

If you could go back in time and stop Hitler from being appointed Chancellor, would you do it?  I am trying to stop Trump from effortlessly winning a second term and I make no apologies if some Biden supporters get hurt feelies along the way.

Biden can't win.  He is too old, too conservative and just too damn stupid. That's not a jihad, its just the plain facts.

Eliminating non viable candidates.  Its the whole reason we have primaries.

I'm still trying to understand why Sanders felt he needed to apologize for the Teachout op-ed.  I read it and I didn't see anything untrue in it.  And I don't even have an issue with calling it "corruption."  Our entire political process is indeed corrupted by the influence of money that pours in with the expectation that favored treatment will follow.  It's highly likely that if Biden is the nominee, he's going to be pounded continuously by Trump as a creature of the "corrupt" DC "swamp."  Isn't Biden's closeness to the banking industry at the heart of why he and Warren have been at odds in the past?

I didn't see the article as out of bounds in any way during a campaign.

I don't agree. The use of the word "corruption" was deliberately misleading, especially with the backdrop of the (baseless) accusations of Ukraine corruption.

If you're going to call someone who works within the current system "corrupt", you really have to make clear that what you're doing is calling the system itself corrupt. She did not do that.

Ever apologize for something that you didn’t have an issue with but that someone else did?

I can't recall apologizing for something someone else did that I didn't think was wrong.  Have you?

then we'll have to agree to disagree.  I thought it was clear she thinks that DC business as usual is corrupt.

I’ve never had any underlings, so not in a case like Sanders’. And while I can’t recall offhand any time I apologized when a friend or relative did something that I didn’t think was wrong but that upset someone, I can imagine doing so. That’s what keeps me from having the same question you do.
