What would ersatz cowbell be?
I always thought of that as ersatz rattlesnake, the cowbell's mortal antagonist, but excellent answer.
This should fill anyone's prescription for more cowbell:
What other instrument belongs in a song with the line "You lose another broken heart in a land of meat"? Demme went in hoping to capture Stephen Morris bashing away at his drum kit, only to find the drums were electronic. But Barney really explores the cowbell from 5:00 on.
Video from the kings of vibraslap later today.
Well done, @ml1, never noticed both! As I promised for those waiting with rhythmically baited breath, there's an artist that I think used the vibraslap more than any other. For those who seen my prior music posts, I'm always foisting my favorite band, Game Theory, on anyone willing to give them a try. Scott Miller, the singer/songwriter and all around musical genius, was a gourmand especially with percussion and synths. This is from his (their) first truly solid album, Real Nighttime, which might have vibraslap in every song, and I'm pretty sure cowbell. That continued for subsequent albums. (After listening today, more like every other song). Best vibraslap and cowbell song...
I am so out of this discussion, but I do have a genuine Greek cowbell!
