It's wicked furious out here in Madison. Thunder now rolling in with ferocity. Buckling down for a long, stormy night with the kids in our bed. Now I'm afraid we'll lose power too
I just got this text:
MAPLEWOOD PD NJ: Power outages reported area of Valley St and west due to transformer failure. Power company notified. No further information.
max,
this is some monsoony weather you conjured up for this time....
still better than a blizzard though.
no, I retract that. There's something exciting about a blizzard. And if it melts in a week like the last one, bring 'em on.
Any update on power outage? Ours went out about an hour ago. I can hear someone's generator on. We're in the Kendall/Jefferson area
Wind was driving the rain horizontally - it was coming through one of our wall a/c units! Haven't seen that in a long time. Seems to be letting up a bit now, though. Hope power comes back quickly for those who've lost it.
I just drove home from Above with a friend (who fortunately drives a Toyota Sequoia) and the flooding is amazing. Enormous puddles and rivers running down the streets. I'll be anxious until this mess passes. I can deal with the rain but the wind combined with our large trees makes me nervous.
Our power just came back on. What a relief.

huge tree down on Mayhew in south orange Town is clearing debris and sawing loose limbs
There is a lot of debris everywhere -- branches/twigs and some streets are quite muddy. But the air smells so nice and clean and fresh today...
Looks like Parker Ave is closed between Valley and Maplewood Ave. Lots of emergency vehicles on the scene. Stay safe MPD/MFD!
