Some of the good ones do cosmetic work to subsidize their serious work. I wouldn't make that a deal-breaker.
Dr. Eric Siegel in Millburn. He may do cosmetic procedures but I’ve never once heard about them from him in over 15 years of visits.
There's this thread: https://maplewood.worldwebs.com/forums/discussion/can-you-recommend-your-dermatologist
I ended up going to Dr. Michael Ehrenreich, Soma Skin & Laser 90 Millburn Ave Ste 206, Millburn, NJ 07041 (973) 763-7546. Who was recommended a bit on the other thread - I would recommend him as well.
For “no nonsense”/medical dermatology I can highly recommend https://www.summitmedicalgroup.com/doctor/skim/
I agree with the above. Dr Kim is no nonsense as well as very willing to work to find a long term treatment for a skin issue that I have had for years.
Thanks for the recs.
And I didn't mean to denigrate cosmetic procedures - I've had a couple myself. (I was plagued with skin tags years ago.) It's just that I had an experience some time ago with a derm (that my ex-wife saw regularly) that was heavily invested in selling his patients all manner of overpriced, privately labeled skin concoctions, which the ex just loved. I really don't think doctors should be in the business of selling stuff like that.
I've got this thing going on on my calf which has baffled 4 different doctors so far, including one derm. Maybe I should send in a picture and get a group diagnosis from you guys. Or is that TMI?

close by on Northfield Ave, adjacent to Essex Green
I'm going to give Dr. Kim a shot. He has an opening next week. Plus he's SMG which makes things a bit easier.
Thanks everyone.

I need a good dermatologist - preferably a no nonsense one that deals with actual serious conditions rather than one who focuses on cosmetic issues. If they sell lotions, they're out.
