Political Activism - Please share any groups or events that we can support.

I've heard of a protest today at 1 in Bedminster. I'm not sure how big it will be. This was posted on FB.

As well there is an anti-hate rally in the city in response to the anti -Semitic graffiti painted in a children's park. I heard this on the news this morning.

UPDATE The call in was a huge success! The bill passed and now awaits Christie's decision! He vetoed it twice before but hopefully third time's the charm!

This call in ends at 1PM. It is specifically about gun control and deals with domestic violence offenders. This came from a site that was asking for people to respond by posting Done. I am not of course asking for anyone to respond unless they care to.

A change from call ins. This is a postcard avalanche to protest Bannon. The site already has posted thousands of people planning on doing this. For those who feel creative, there are blank watercolor postcards. Maybe a portrait of Christie?

Join in and send a postcard directly to Trump! Here are the basic instructions to participate:

** IMPORTANT - Don't mail your card until NOV. 26th **

1. Get a postcard from your state - any picture that represents your state.
2. In the message section, write this simple message: NOT BANNON!
3. Sign your name if you wish
4. Address it as follows:
Donald Trump
c/o The Trump Organization
725 Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10022...
5. Affix a stamp - you can use a 35 cent postcard stamp, or a normal letter stamp.
6. Take a picture of your postcard that you can share on social media using the hashtag #stopbannon . PLEASE DO NOT USE A REFERENCE TO HILLARY CLINTON OF ANY KIND.
7. Drop it in the mail! We are aiming to get these mailed between Saturday, Nov 26th and Monday, Nov. 28th to create a concentrated avalanche of postcards. But if you can't send yours until later, don't let that stop you.

Is that the name of the site? I tried Weekly Actions Against Trump and nothing came up.

Try that

Thanks to the call in Assembly Bill 4126 passed and now awaits Christie's decision. He did veto twice before. The vote was 61- 2 - 8. It seems hopeful that Christie will sign it!

More than anything else, money is needed to resist Trump - subscribe to the NYT, Washington Post, NPR, ACLU. Donate more to Planned Parenthood. Support the SPLC.

For folks who are really looking to stop Trump, the most important thing to do RIGHT NOW is to support Foster Campbell, the Democrat who is competing against the Trumpalump nominee for US Senate in Louisiana. This runoff election will be held December 10 and its result could not be more important. A victory for Campbell wouldn't restore the Senate but it would give Democrats a lot more power in their life and death battle for the future of our nation and the world. Give what you can now, before it is too late for all of us.

How dare Christie veto bill that, well, at least 16 people supported.

Not going to question the reasons behind your support for Candidate Campbell; but...

How would you feel about out-of-state people trying to influence a New Jersey election?

Those are inspiring @paulsurovell. I once bought some great bumper stickers at an event at Seton Hall that had messages of peace and were designed with symbols of every faith. I let my students help themselves, now I wish I had them as a model to make some now or knew where to get them. With the holidays upon us, some lawn signs with a peaceful message might be great. Does anyone know what organization would have made them?

Oops.

Looks like your posts are hiccupping !

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm going to look online now.

So there will be a Women's March on January 21st in Manhattan. It's set to coincide with the one in DC.

I think most people here probably knew it already. It's more manageable for families with young kids, I would think.

To political activists the next election campaign starts the day after Election Day. I suggest that if someone wants to be really involved they check out the Senators scheduled for re-election in 2018 and get involved in the re-election campaign for someone you favor who may be vulnerable or against someone you oppose who may be vulnerable. There are 23 Dems up for re-election and only 8 Republicans.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_elections,_2018#Early_predictions

Is it too soon to plan a trip to Nevada or Montana?

In other words, we're ..cked.

I've got an eye on 2018 and I keep thinking if we are vocal about such issues as the SCOTUS picks and Trump's cabinet picks, those running will want to please us and will vote accordingly and of course I'm talking about those on both sides of the aisle. Personally I try to pick my battles and focus. I recognize that I can complain about every name that Trump announces but if a group of vocal people focus on a few of the more outrageous ones we may have some influence.

I talk to Republican friends and look for common ground. Thanksgiving was challenging but I pressed friends on an assortment of issues. Where I saw no movement, I turned the page. I listened to arguments that I disagreed with because my goal was agreement. I found it in the issue of the SCOTUS pick. In this group everyone had voted for President Obama twice. I was certain that they didn't buy the whole Trump package. If we try to get friends and associates from the GOP to be willing to contact their legislators on a couple of appointments we may help to keep things in check.

On the SCOTUS pick I had the most success as my friends had grown children who would bear the outcome of that choice which might leave them with less choice for a generation.

Its worth a try.

stop reading Facebook articles written by people with little knowledge of history or politics. I get them on my feed or liked by my friends, thus I see them and occasionally read them. Generally they are garbage, and just some persons opinion. that is not news or information.

Yes

Much better to read the Times so as to get misinformed from an authoritative source.

My family's decided on one small holiday gift and a donation to Planned Parenthood in each giftee's name in an amount they can afford. My sister, daughter, and spouse are still stunned that much of America hates them.

Some folks are grabbing up tickets to these victory rallies but not with the intention of going. Could that be the reason for so many empty seats or is it just lack of interest. Hmmm, sounds like a bit of mischief. The link below is the one to get the tickets.
