I see Tesla chargers for the most part, which I think is smart marketing for them.

It’s smart for the rest stops because, given the new charging partnerships with GM, Ford and other automakers, Tesla ports will be the industrywide standard in a couple of years.

The opportunity to charge up an electric vehicle while stopping for food or taking a bathroom break at New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway service areas will increase under a $25.7 million deal approved Tuesday.

The agreement unanimously approved by the Turnpike Authority’s board of commissioners will bring a total of 240 electric passenger vehicle charging ports to the two toll roads operated by the authority. Officials worked out the deal last month after an approval to negotiate it with the company that runs the service areas.

Under this amendment to an operating agreement, the company, Applegreen New Jersey Welcome Centres LLC, agreed to construct 80 electric passenger vehicle charging ports by Dec. 31, 2025 and an additional 160 charging ports by April 2033, said John Keller, authority executive director.

I just realized... I don't think I ever went inside the old rest stop. Drove through to get to Vauxhall a bazillion times over the past 20 years. (Remember the 'before times' when there wasn't yet a ramp to get onto 78 West directly from GSP?)  Maybe once I got McD drive thru for the kids. But as far as I recall, never went in.

Wonder if I'll ever go into this one. Shake Shack seems appealing.

When my kids were little, we went to the McD's sometimes for breakfast and they played in the indoor playground and I was able to read the paper nearby and we were all happy and safe.

I kinda meant to do this at some point when my kids were little... but somehow, never did.
