If they're actual honeybees, you can often find someone who will take them for free unless they are in a very difficult to access space, such as inside walls. However, if they're not honey bees, especially if they turn out to be yellowjackets, then you're stuck with an exterminator, and killing them will most likely be the only option presented. That said, if they're yellowjackets, I wouldn't lose any sleep over killing them.
George at the UPS Store in SO is a local honeybee expert - he may have some good advice.
The last thing you want to do is hire a pest control company to deal with honey bees , Might not be legal and is certainly a bad idea.

Hi -
This summer we have been having a big issue with bees in and around our property; the other day I found a bee in our house! While I want to get rid of them, I would rather look for eco friendly options.
Has anyone used or know of a local bee relocation service / expert? Otherwise I fear my only option would be an exterminator, which is not my preference.
