Is Bill Cosby Not Innocent until proven guilty?

I have hours and hours of digitally archived Mr. Rogers episodes (plus it streams on Amazon Prime). Watch it with my kids every so often and almost always get a little choked up at how sincere and beautiful that show (and that man) was. He was the real deal.

I'll leave these here. Enjoy (but have tissues handy).

Reducing an awards show audience to tears:

Defending PBS (just...wow):

And one of his final clips (still gets me):

remember this from CeeLo Green? nday on Twitter.
"If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent," he tweeted in a post that's since been deleted but was preserved by a Twitter user. "Women who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!"

Thank you to those of you who have responded with support and understanding. It's a very positive change from the last time I posted about my experience and this kind of phenomenon. I appreciate it after risking sticking out my neck again. I do hope the Cosby situation will encourage more women to come forward following who have been sexually abused by public figures, people in positions of authority, date rape, etc.

wow. This man has to go to jail. Forever.

Beverly Johnson's account really breaks it down it a way that makes it impossible for nay-sayers to hold their ground. This was the 80's. Cosby was the biggest thing in showbiz, especially for African Americans. People took pills that were handed to them without getting too worried about what it was...drugs flowed, "like water," were her words. He carefully groomed his victims in a predatory way that we (in 2014) now recognize. And even though she was handed a laced drink rather than a pill (like Janice Dickinson) her experience with drugs was why she was able to realize what was going. The most hateful tactic, letting his wife answer the phone and said that "they" were in bed. Can people really stick to their guns and say it's all a lie?!?

What a horrific story. It just gets uglier and uglier. This serial rapist has been getting away with this for 40 years!!!!

He's really a sick man. He has to be.

He seems to be guilty in the court of public opinion.

he seems to be guilty period

Right. None of this public opinion stuff. That seems to blame us for something.

Statement by the wife.

well ok.

Pay no attention to those twenty-five accusers.

Apparently, he did admit to giving drugs to women in order to have sex with them.

PHILADELPHIA — Bill Cosby admitted in a 2005 deposition that he obtained Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with. He admitted giving the sedative to at least one woman.

The Associated Press went to court to compel the release of the documents, and they were made public Monday. Cosby's lawyers had objected on the grounds that it would embarrass their client.
The 77-year-old comedian was testifying under oath in a lawsuit filed by a former Temple University employee. He testified he gave her three half-pills of Benadryl.

Innocent until proven guilty is a (vital) legal standard in a court of law, but has little or no bearing in the court of public opinion.

Hope this links work:

He admitted it in the 2005 deposition which I saw in the news and as kibbegirl indicates above.

I guess Whoopi is upset about it and clings to denial.

Apparently his lawyer tried to suppress it because he's "not a public figure." Um, OMG. Such delusion! Who could be MORE of a public figure??

Not only is he an actor and author, but he gets paid a lot of money by a lot of people to perform and speak. In public.

And his lawyer also said something crazy about having the docs sealed as not to "embarrass" his family.

Am I the only one who believes that Camille Cosby heard about the details of the 2005 drugging when the public did?

Holy ****:

What a horrible person.

I think we can answer the original question that started this thread. No, Bill Cosby isn't innocent just because he's not been proven guilty. He's just not in jail because he hasn't been proven guilty.

It makes me feel a little ill that the court that saw that deposition allowed Cosby to introduce a clause that would keep all that information secret. They were okay with the knowledge that he would most likely go right back out there and keep doing what he had been doing? They didn't mind women being molested by that power-mad pervert, so his reputation wouldn't be tarnished and his family wouldn't be hurt? What about all the other people being hurt?????

A court is not going to obstruct a civil action clause that not illegal to which both parties agree to as part of the settlement.

Um, I have no idea what you just said. Sorry... LOL
