I haven't been paying attention. Giants in first place!

Posted this in the Cowboys thread, but for my money, this never gets old:

Since I'm now moderating the "official" Cowboys thread... did you notice what a good tackle that was?

It was. But meaningless. The kicking team can't advance a muffed punt.

Yes, but it probably felt somewhat good after blowing the catch--at least he got his frustrations out.

Man, was that an epic fail.

I'd just like to point out that statistically the Cowboys were the better team with better stats. With the single exception of the final score they did better than the Giants in that game. Go Cowboys!

Well... yeah... but I have five simple facts to point out:

1. That ball is a hater.

2. The turf is a hater.

3. That ref clearly distracted Beasley and NO penalty was called. Probably because everyone is jealous.

4. Did you know that Dallas won five super bowls back in the last century?

5. How about those cheerleaders?

was that Daniel Murphy in the Giants secondary yesterday?

Somehow still leading the NFC East. We'll see where things are in a couple of weeks.

The most optimistic I can be is a 9-7 finish. That's losing to the Panthers and Jets and managing wins against thr rest.

That was a touchdown.  If all you need to do is break the plane to score a touchdown on a run play, how is it not a touchdown to clearly catch the ball, put two feet down and have it knocked away by the defender.  another stupid incomprehensible NFL rule.

I was yelling at the TV every time Eli threw with two minutes to play.  I wanted someone to do the calculation for me if they ran three times and then kicked a field goal.  How many seconds would have remained?  Would have been less than a minute with no time outs instead of, what, a minute and a half and one time out?  Bad clock management PLUS the risk of throwing an interception.

I thought I heard the best they could've done was about a minute twenty. I don't dispute the bad clock management, but they started that last possession forcing 3 incompletes. Make one stinking play on 4th and 10 and game over. Or Collins holds on to the INT and game over. Or don't give up that last 9-yd completion to Amendola and the FGA would be 63 yds. So yeah, there's the clock stuff, but for me it's more about making (and not making) plays.

If they ran the ball three times, then kicked a field goal, Brady still would have had about 1:15 left to get into FG range, unfortunately, very doable for him.

I too, think it was a touchdown, but I also think that if he continues to 'tuck' the ball to his chest, instead of putting it out there, like he does when he starts his celebration, I don't think the call is even an issue.

On a separate note, can someone clarify the following.

On the Pats second timeout in the 4th quarter, Belicheck was down around the 10 yard line, calling for the timeout.  Aren't players and coaches restricted to stay within the boundaries outlined on the sideline and if not, shouldn't it have been an unsportsmanlike penalty, thus giving the Giants an automatic first down?  I don't know, just asking.

Good question. I don't know either, although I know Coughlin does it a lot.

the first pass by Eli was originally a run play but when he saw they had the lined stacked, he audibled the pass play. I don't have an issue going with the pass plays and trying to score a touchdown. With the pass play too, they had the potential for a defensive penalty the way the game was being called. I cant fault Collins for not holding onto the INT either...once his arm and head hit the ground the surprise would have been if he held onto it.

Sure looked like his arm was between the ball/ground after his leg was done.

ETA: Oh - and that was a TD. NFL blew it again.
