How to avoid / prevent malware?

So true. I used to only download 3rd party programs from CNET, but they got ridiculously shady a few years ago. I won't download from them ever again.

It's not that complicated

-never download free software

-if you go to "muddy" sites - click on no pop ups, don't download anything

- don't open emails from people you don't know

- be smart before clicking on search engine returns

- know how to access task manager if a nasty pop up does try to take over

My business partner is a naive web surfer who googles everything and clicks on anything.  Sports and pseudo sports sites in particular.  I've pretty much told him to stop web surfing on his windows laptop and use only his iPad.  In My years of iPad use, never had a problem.

This is true for me too. I have never had a problem on my iPad and it's old!

It's probably only a matter of time ...

This is good advice, but it does seem too complicated for many people.
