GOP2020: What Becomes Of The Collaborators Post-Trump?

Wouldn't surprise me if nothing happens. Rosenstein is pretty cagey and Trump has yet to have the nerve to fire anyone to their face.

The speed of news headlines is dizzying!  Now at least 3 accusers of Kavanaugh?  If he withdraws his nomination, can these peckerheads get a new nominee confirmed before the midterms?

 There's a 3rd?

You must be thinking of the “To the Driver” thread.

Road: Re Signs

White House question to Rosenstein....

 And a 4th...

Should these allegations be true then Clarence may no longer be alone. He'll have Brett to watch porn with in chambers.

Sounds like the WH was hoping Rod was going to resign.  Sanders says Trump will meet with Rosenstein on Thursday.

Axios really screwed that one up.

On the other hand, the WH is so chaotic that the press team couldn't immediately deny the story because they never know WTF is actually happening.

I kinda like that Jonathan Swan guy who appears on TV. Maybe it's the accent.

Maybe the WH staff told Trump that Rod was coming over to resign, but they were secretly asking for his advice on invoking the 25th amendment.

That was quick, Onion writers:

Some are saying the WH started this rumor to distract from other awful news.

He supposedly talked to Kelly re the conditions of resignation and they couldn't agree. Seems that he's challenging the bully to fire him.

I get that the WH is worried that Sessions and/or Rosenstein going before the mid-terms is bad optics. What I don't get is why voters would care, particularly as Trump has pretty much said he's going to fire them right after the mid-terms. And they are his appointees in the first place.

Trump has decimated the EPA and State Dept. He's appointing conservatives to lifelong appointments on federal benches. He's decreasing access to healthcare, putting immigrants and children in jail. This is our biggest problem, who the #2 guy at Justice is?

For a while I thought you meant Jonathan Pie. I knew nothing of this Swan guy until just now when i realized his was the first tweet I'd read regarding Rosenstein resigning.

 He's on MSNBC frequently.

So what happens to all Mueller's evidence if he gets shut down? Say Dems take the House and launch investigations -- any process for Mueller to make sure all he's found so far doesn't get buried forever? He has to submit a report I believe -- can the relevant House committee subpoena that when Rosenstein's replacement refuses to release the info? (#releaseTheDocuments?)

I see. Well, I don’t because I scrapped cable. But now I know, thanks.

If Mueller's as smart as everyone says he is, I'm sure he has a contingency plan.

One theory about Rod resignation story:

For all the morning’s madness, there may have been an underlying logic. Over the weekend, as Brett Kavanaugh’s prospects appeared increasingly imperiled, Trump faced two tactical options, both of them fraught. One was to cut Kavanaugh loose. But he was also looking for ways to dramatically shift the news cycle away from his embattled Supreme Court nominee. According to a source briefed on Trump’s thinking, Trump decided that firing Rosenstein would knock Kavanaugh out of the news, potentially saving his nomination and Republicans’ chances for keeping the Senate. “The strategy was to try and do something really big,” the source said. The leak about Rosenstein’s resignation could have been the result, and it certainly had the desired effect of driving Kavanaugh out of the news for a few hours.

Vanity Fair

Michael Cohen's case is in the portfolio of the SDNY US Attorney.  In Virginia, Manafort still has to be sentenced, so his agreement can be taken over by the US Attorney there.  Trump could cut off the hydra's head, but more will appear.

I think Trump often broadcasts (leaks) potential moves, just to see the public reaction. Also, if you subtly mention an action and repeat it - it normalizes it.  I'm not sure where Trump mastered these techniques, but it is one thing he's good at.

If he hopes these little ploys will knock Kavanaugh out of the spotlight, he hasn't studied Michael Avenatti. Watching him last night, he was channeling Vin Diesel meets Arnie Becker.

DJT, International Embarrassment

President Donald Trump told world leaders on Tuesday that the United States would always put its interests above theirs, adhering to a principle of sovereignty in the face of increasing “globalism.”

The rest of the world responded with laughter, frowns and a collective shrug.

The U.S. president’s second address to the United Nations General Assembly was designed to emphasize Trump’s continued commitment to his “America first” ideals. He urged other countries to pursue their own unique visions, insisting that that would ultimately lead to more a coherent world order.

“We reject the ideology of globalism, and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism around the world,” the Republican president said. “Responsible nations must defend against threats to sovereignty. And not just from global governments, but from other newer forms of coercion and domination.”

The reaction from the crowd was striking in underscoring Trump — and America’s — increasing isolation on the world stage. The president drew guffaws at the start when he boasted about his administration’s accomplishments and barely any applause beyond a polite round at the end. Later, when Trump blasted Germany over an energy pipeline to Russia, cameras caught the German representatives smirking.

It was a striking moment for a president who ran for office complaining that the rest of the world was laughing at America. Still, there’s no question the details of Trump’s speech will be combed in the coming days for tidbits about where U.S. policy is heading on a number of fronts.

Trump arrived late for his speech — Ecuador’s president took his time slot instead — and began by first bragging about his administration’s accomplishments, declaring that “In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country.”

Laughter rose up from the crowd at the claim.

“It's true,” said Trump, adding: “Didn't expect that reaction, but that's okay.”

I saw the clip of the laughter from the crowd. He doesn't realize they are laughing at him not with him. I turned the sound off and then decided to turn the TV off.

you'd think his advisors would remind him he isn't speaking to a hangar full of MAGAs at the UN.  They aren't buying his nonsense, and why would they?

Which advisor? Stephen Miller? Shaun Hannity? Rudy Giuliani?

We are way out there in Swampland.
