The Stand - Stephen King

When it comes to Stephen King, Gerald's Game was truly creepy. It was never made into a film and few people I know have read it. King did a strange little trick. There is a scene that seems insignificant but just happens to relate to a scene in Dolores Clairborne, another moody favorite of mine.  

Misery was a good read as well.

Gerald's Game was made into a film. Streaming on Netflix. Not one of the greatest adaptations, but worth a watch.

3/4's if the way through the uncut version of The Stand, having read the original numerous times. One of my favorites.

I read the uncut version years ago when it came out. 1,100 pages but worth the effort. He draws you into the post pandemic world and creates great characters. Maybe more relevant today than ever.

After requesting this for Mother's Day a few years ago and intimidated by the heft of the actual book, I finally started this in the midst of my "summer of apocalyptic/dystopian" reads, which included Swan Song and up next, The Road, after securing another copy when I couldn't find mine.

Enjoying the extras in this version. It is one of my favorite novels, even pre-pandemic.

Too bad. I don't have Netflix. Might be worth doing it for a month or finding another rental option.

So the stand is that good. After Mr. T's endorsement I was considering buying a copy. Guess it's time.

I did not. I will try to get to it between my Book Club books. (This month's Book Club book: Little Fires Everywhere. Meh.) 

Enjoyed Gerald's Game. Yeah, some parts were a bit gruesome, of course.
