Actually, you are both right. Just like a family ... we have our squabbles and sometimes they can be downright nasty. But ... when it really matters, we ARE a family/community as we are seeing today.Scully said:

If he was so ungrateful for whatever the tip was, I would have asked for it back and sent him on his way.
Yes, M'Lady... :O
No to all ... which is why I also question tipping at the counter when getting takeout. (I don't tip at Burger King or similar on the (very rare) occasions that I go there.)jasper said:
Do people tip when they check out at the grocery store or at a gift store that wraps your package for you? What about the gas station attendant who fills your car? How about toll booth collectors if you've not opted in to EZ Pass? Train conductor? PSE&G meter reader? Township committee members?

Wow, I've never had anyone question my tip for them. And it has happened to you three times. Remarkable.

I noticed yesterday that the cashiers at the Shop Rite in Essex Green now have tip jars at each register next to the credit card machine.
I never saw that before.

So giving $26 tip on a bill of $105 was not enough? I thought the service was great up until then and tipped her accordingly. I had to stand there while she questioned me and asked me to point out where I had written in her tip on the CC receipt because she didn't see it. She apologized and so did the manager after we spoke with him as you could clearly see where it was written.
