3 nt beach vk in April with kids?

Wait where are you going?

Flying into FLL. leaving kids with MIL for a few days. Want to then do a few fun things with them before/after we go off on our own.

Ah. Don't miss the shelling boat tour in Captiva. It is stunning and you go to natural protected beaches.

The Wynwood Art District (the City of Miami, not Miami Beach) is a lot of fun, and a great way to spend half a day or so. Graffiti murals, art galleries, cafes, etc. A particularly great coffee house in the neighborhood is Panther Coffee.

A great fun place to eat before or after is Blue Collar - a funky, nouveau diner with lots of vegetarian options. It's a bit further uptown.

Thanks, Debby!

Is it stupid to drive the three hours to Captiva for R&R? I'd much rather be somewhere quiet with nice dining options for a few days than a party scene.

Not at all stupid! You won't regret it. It is the antithesis of South Beach.

When are you traveling?

Debby, I'll FB message you!

At Tween Waters now, sans kids. I admit I'm a bit disappointed in the amenities. Nothing is included. We rented bikes for our stay (from elsewhere) and the beach is beautiful, so we will have fun, but this is not as nice as I was hoping.

If you would like to charter a boat, I can recommend one. Captain Derrick grew up around Pine Island Sound and knows the best shelling, fishing and dolphin-watching sites. He likes to drive around and make the dolphins chase the boat, and is a great casting coach for novices. We are repeat customers!

Thank you! Bikes were great. We left the resort at 9, found the bike place, rode back for a meh breakfast, and rode into Sanibel to find some wine for sunset at the beach. Turned into over a 20 mile, 7 hour excursion which was wonderful. We spoke with some women at a weird wine store "tropical  wines" (we bought one bottle but they were bizarre wines) and got directions find a beach we never would have otherwise found, spent hours in the water (which is incredible!) and had to ride back (exhausting). So...it's a great trip so far, I'd just consider the resort more of a room as opposed to anything more.

P.S. I love the grouper sandwich at the Mucky Duck, which is right on the beach.

Yeah, I really wouldn't call it a resort - more a hotel with a lovely property.

I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed!

No worries, the location is ideal. We will go elsewhere for bkfst, and I got espresso for myself. Everyone is very pleasant.

We saw the Mucky Duck, I can't have gluten so I have to check their menu for grilled stuff. We are going to bike into that area this morning to wander around and get bkfst.
