Got my tickets for a Spring European departure.   They seem significantly cheaper than other years

Best news Emirates Airlines flies non stop from Newark to Athens.  No more layovers in Munich or London etc. Would imagine same applies to all European capitals.   Web site features meals several

grades above Air line food. This flight allows dancing in the aisles.   Hurry April

Love Emirates, especially for children, they go all out.

Flew them to Iceland a year ago. They get you on added fees such as extra luggage, food, snacks, etc. If you have carry ons and bring your own snacks they are fine. Also, I do not believe they have have wi-fi (if they do, you probably have to pay for it but I don't recall).

Flew WOW in April 2017.  With the base (cheapest) fare, advance seat assignment, in flight food, checked luggage AND carry-on luggage that doesn't meet the strict requirements - all cost extra.  No wifi on flight, not even for purchase.  Also - back then, WOW didn't have food service privileges at Newark.  We had a EWR-KEF-AMS flight, we pre-ordered food but the food wasn't available on the 6 hour Newark to Iceland leg.  It was available on the 2 hour Iceland to Amsterdam leg. Luckily we had snacks.

I flew two discount airline flights and I won't do it again.   Emirates always has amazing sales and they know how to make flying lovely.  JetBlue is my second favorite.

My favorite discount international airline is Norwegian.  Similar set up to WOW with the extra fees, but better planes (new Boeing Dreamliners), more comfortable seats and free in-flight wifi.  They mainly fly out of JFK...with only a few routes out of Newark (Barcelona and Paris).  I've flown them to Barcelona, Copenhagen, Stockholm and will be flying them to Oslo in a few weeks.

Has anyone flown Norwegian out of SWF (Newburgh)?  Even though it's farther away, I think the driving time to get there would be about the same as getting to JFK at most times of the day due to traffic.  Plus I understand that SWF is a dream compared to the other area airports - no security line or crowds, etc.   Norwegian has a handful of flights out of there....

Weirdbeard - yes I’ve flown with Norwegian to and from SWF - into Edinburgh, Scotland and returning from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Much better than flying out of JFK for sure! Yes, the airport is tiny so it only has limited facilities, for example no airline lounges and not much to do if you have checked in early for your flight.

I paid extra to take a large suitcase, the emergency exit seat with more legroom and for a meal. I did look up the airline quality ratings (Skytrax) for Norwegian and had been forewarned that the airline does not even provide water free of charge for passengers.

The plane was a brand new 737-Max (extended range aircraft)....and fortunately I had some TV shows downloaded on my iPad as there wasn’t any entertainment that I recall on the plane.

Bear in mind though that Norwegian’s financial situation is frequently reported in the financial news as being unstable, so do take out travel insurance in case the airline goes kaput.

My son took Wow to Amsterdam last year.  I asked him if he liked it and he said, "You're not supposed to like it.  It's the cheapest option.  It was fine."

I've heard they nickle and dime you for everything and it ends up being not so cheap.

Yeah, I heard this today.  Awful for the passengers and employees.  I was hoping to take them some day to visit iceland.
