World Series!

I think the WS deserves its own thread. I know there's a Mets fans only thread, started by Soul29, but let's splurge and start a WS thread too, okay? Soul, you okay with that?

So, LGM! Taking one in KC would be great. Taking Game 1 would be fantastic and put fear into the hearts of all Royals fans. Who's gonna be the hero? I'll take Harvey and Duda.

Keeping fingers crossed that the Met's bats and Harvey's arm will be a royal pita to Kansas City tonight.

I noticed that Harvey has been mentioned as the ace of the team by Collins and the media. I thought it was deGrom. Either way, tonight I am hoping we win - pick up where we left off. question

according to Wright, they have four aces. Then he corrected himself and suggested Matz needs more starts before he can be called an ace. So by mid-next year they'll have four aces ;-)

And what if Wheeler ever becomes the guy they thought he was when they traded Beltran? Wow. They could probably move one guy to the bullpen and be dominant from start to finish almost every night. If we want to think about what deGrom would be as a one-inning pitcher, we could consider this:

I think Collins has handled this staff very well, both in setting rotations and managing them in the games. Degromm has looked tired, and Harvey is best on regular rest. Harvey also does well when he has a chance to really shine.

So the Royals seem to be a pretty good team, huh?

Harvey is battling. Even without the high 90s he's doing well and would possibly be up 2-0 if Cespedes hadn't gotten tied up by that first ball.

Boy, both teams are making some nifty plays.

There was another one.

Flores has gotten robbed twice now.

Didn't see that coming

The Liberty in Union.

If I could get there without missing the game, I'd be there

Get 'em tomorrow and we're good.

Wow. What a game.

I have confidence in DeGrom tonight but these Royals are tough. There were some terrific plays last night by both teams that prevented runs. This could have gone either way.

I guess Mets fans can take some comfort in one of their own, Chris Young, getting the W against them.

Better him than that other Chris Young ex-Met. Ugh.

1. Would rather let our pitchers bat for themselves than have Cuddyer DH. He was god awful.

2. KC played as advertised. They attack pitches and make contact unlike our guys who went down looking or whiffing way too much.

3. Wright made fielding and throwing error on same play. Should have had that guy even with the fumble.

4. That ridiculous pseudo home run on first pitch deflated Mets and Harvey. May have been different game without it.

5. Happy for Niese that he got in on the show and acquitted himself well. He was pushed aside by the young stars this year.

Wow. As I had expected, Royals put the ball in play, they ran well on the bases, and mostly they fielded well (except the Hosmer error and some weak arms in the outfield). Their relief corps were as good as advertised.

That said, the Mets also played damned well and I am really encouraged. Harvey pitched well even though his heater was not its best. The fielding was very good, except for the Wright error and the Cespedes brain fart. They ran well on the bases. The relief corps pitched well.

I am really looking forward to seeing deGrom go tonight, and Cueto is imminently beatable these days--in the ALCS he did not look like the guy who won 19 and then 20 for the Reds in 2012 and 2014.

In case I needed another reason to root for the Mets tonight, back in 2010 Johnny Cueto, during a brawl, kicked the Cardinals backup catcher in the head with his cleats, ending his career.

CRUSH HIM METS!

Agree about Cuddyer. So frustrating. He is useless.

And Cespedes should have caught that ball.

Better luck tonight.

I keep coming back to this ... Why did we leave Matt Reynolds off the WS roster? I get adding Uribe ... Makes sense. But leave Kirk Nieuwenhuis OR Michael Cuddyer OFF the roster ... Mets didn't use Uribe because he's your emergency SS, which leaves us hamstrung for the rest of the Series, yes? For Nieuwenhuis and Cuddyer? We are, in essence, a bat short without the benefit of a back-up SS ...

Uribe is backup for 3rd and SS. Given some of Wright's fielding errors TC might want to give Wright a rest - especially if they can develop a large lead in tonight's game. Not sure if Uribe would be up to the task. But it looks like Wright could use a rest
