Why am I suddenly getting email notifications?

I never asked to be notified when my screen name appears in threads, so why am I getting these notifications now?

We'll probably turn this off shortly until we implement the ability to opt in and out. I'm glad to see that it works. We'll also send out notifications for private messages as well.
