Verjus' Friday International Bistro Nights are wonderful!

Of course, we love Verjus ANY night of the week, but since they began their Bistro Nights, we've been there more frequently on Fridays. Last night was German Night. I had a Wurst Appetizer, sauerbraten (with Spaetzel & Red Cabbage, natch), and Apple Strudel. Mrs. Soda enjoyed Potato Pancakes, Turbot, and Linzer Torte. I enjoyed my Allagash White (a Belgian-style wheat beer) and the wife liked her Reisling.

Verjus Bistro Nights offer French, Italian, American, German and (who knows what next?!) other national cuisines, all done Charlie's way. Jane, the consummate hostess, is always gracious, and informative on all topics of local note.

You should go!

We were there last night for German Night, too. Delicious. It was the first German-themed night that we were able to make. Loved the potato pancakes and chicken paprika (my husband had the wurst platter and the pork cutlet). He also discovered some interesting German beer he hadn't tried before. It looked like there was a good crowd last night.

Looking forward to the next theme night!

Wow, I wish I'd have known - this sounds awesome! Following them on Facebook now.

I get their emails, too, with menus.   These nights are, as soda aptly states, a great thing.  Haven't made the German one, but will be sure to not make excuses next time.

Here's last night's bill of fare, notated with my personal selections. I also recommend the gemutelichkeit at The Dutchman's on Rte 72 approaching LBI, and waaay back in my L.I. days, I loved the red cabbage at Bronco Charlie's in Connetquot...

BTW: Verjus' Bistro Nights are not cheap, but IMHO they offer excellent value: great food and attentive service in a lovely room where you can hear your dinner partners above the background music.

We are now on the email list for the Verjus special events and I was really sorry not to be able to make it last night.  The menu really looked good!  We enjoyed their bistro menu during Maplewood Restaurant week and hope to get back to another one soon.

PSA: If you love Sauerbraten, get your fix at Verjus tomorrow night. Here's a link to their German Night menu... https://www.verjusrestaurant.com/menu.html

Or, if you wanna drive to Stanhope, try the Black Forest Inn...
