True Salvage - New Cafe in Maplewood

A new cafe on the corner of Elmwood and Orchard in Maplewood recently opened up.  Really fun and funky atmosphere, great food, and interesting tea and coffee selections.   It was really busy around lunchtime this Tuesday, which was great to see.  Great addition to the neighborhood.  So far, I've had the egg and cheese sandwich and the goat cheese/broccoli quiche, both delicious.  I'll be back often.

Agree agree agree!!!

I’m hardly a coffee connoisseur but REALLY enjoyed a South African blend there that was robust and smooth - not a hint of bitterness.

It’s in walking distance too so I’m seeing myself as an instant regular

I was just in a few days ago.  Very cute and the coffee is gooood!

So glad to hear this!

Good luck to Dave.

Ate there today with  friend.  Great chips.  My sandwich was decent.  I think my friend liked his more.  It seems a little expensive at first but the sandwiches are more than big enough to share.  I brought home a half to my wife without even a thought of trying to go at it.  Pleasant, friendly space.  I'll be back.

Went this morning.  Had a great cup of coffee and an egg sandwich on a Balthazar roll.  I will be back very, very often.

Da wife and I went there this morning. I told Dave they are going to do very well there. Love the place AND we can walk to it.

I hope for a little bit of table re-organization: Move, or eliminate the center table with the pastry so that a group of 6 or 7 can sit together more comfortably.

Beyond that, a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

I don't know the owners and haven't yet made it to visit but I hope that they will accept this as the full compliment it is.

I can't help but read the comments on the food and see the pictures and feel that Laura Nichols is being channeled.

I know she would fully approve!

It's amazing to me how similar the vibe is to The Blue Plate Special and Laura.

Best Regards,

Ron Carter

had a quiche and chicken with rice soup with coffee. All very good.

What are the hours?  If open, I may try to stop there tomorrow morning.

This is exactly what they plan to do.

I feel the same way when I'm in there.  Very similar vibe and really good food.

Memories of Cafe Meow too.
