Fun! I recently met a woman who grew up in Maplewood but moved decades ago. She never returned but when we started speaking about the place the first thing she asked about was Roman Gourmet. She says to this day, she still tells friends that she’s had the greatest pizza on the planet and it’s Roman’s. We are spoiled in this area by some outstanding places. When I told her Arturo’s was actually considered one of the best in the nation, she scoffed. To her Arturos did not compare though she was speaking about circa 1987.
Looks like a wine enthusiast who used to hang around here may be among the diners in that Arturo’s photo at 3:47.
