Suffragette, the movie. Is it going to open in NJ?

Hi,

Couldn't find any info if the movie "Suffragette" would be opening in theaters other than NYC and other large cities. Heard anything about it coming to NJ? Thanks.

There's a huge display for that movie in the lobby of the theater where I'm sitting right now, in San Antonio, which is the biggest dead zone for art films you could hope to find. That makes me pretty certain it will be showing in NJ, at least at the Maplewood and in Montclair.

Seems like it might be Thanksgiving before it makes it across the Hudson.

Didn't kniow about this movie, looks very intersting.

It opened in NYC last Friday, so from experience you might expect it to open at places like the Montclair Clairidge two weeks later, which would be end of next week. It's not really a small, indie movie, so no reason to believe it won't make it to NJ, probably will be shown in Maplewood.

A.O. Scott's review in NY Times was kind of tepid.

Thanks for the info! I just spent the last two weekends traipsing around NYC so I want to take a break from that if possible...

Suffragette is now playing in Cranford, the Clairidge in Montclair and the AMC Loews in East Hanover

My weekly email update from the Maplewood Theater says Sufragette is Coming Soon.

Wondering if it is going to rock me the way Iron Jawed Angels did. Great role for Hilary Swank, and my students and I loved the parade with Mary J. Blige playing in the background. Great to watch while you are waiting.

"Shoulder to Shoulder," the 1974 BBC television series, with Sian Phillips, whose most famous role is perhaps Livia in "I Claudius," playing Emmeline Pankhurst, is available on Youtube. I remember it as being extremely good and eyeopening, but, of course, the production values are quite primitive.
