Why so far for a sight glass? It's common part all over. But they usually have to be cut to the exact length.

Hi.
Just broke the site glass on our Weill Mclain gas boiler while prepping with flush and boiler test. Can I close the valves and run safely for a little while or wait until I get a replacement. All else seems good but I don't know the exact fill level.
