Someone to mount elevated train tracks in a BR?

Here's a new one... thinking of running a powered set of Lionel train tracks at ceiling height in ctrzson's BR so we can reclaim some floor space and mature things up a bit. Would look like something as seen in the pic. Anyone know anyone who can do this? Prefer a hobbyist (and may check with the model RR guys behind HD on 22) but all ears regardless.

Wow. Ok, that's quite awesome. However on this particular front I think the DIY ends right around the time I input my credit card info. Now if someone wants to install it, I'm all over it.

Just keep it higher than the doors. Have seen this in quite a few pubs, it's pretty cool.

That looks very cool.

I would be concerned with a derailment at that height though.

You can also put it on a shelf that goes around the room to help with possible derailment issues. The suspended track looks cooler though.

New Jersey hi railers in Paterson is an excellent club, in my opinion much better than the group on 22. Go through their website and I can almost guarantee one of their members will want the gig and know how to do it. I'm a woodworker who is into trains a little, but I have no time. They will know the correct way to do it. Good luck.

I thought about derailment and his head, and given these are my grandfather's post-war trains, he'd better not bust them up. (Joking aside, he's good-- he's had a set of O-27 hooked up in his room that he's run since he was about four, and he's now at CHS.). As long as they're run on low power while he's in the center of the room, and no one slams any doors or windows, we should be ok.

Thanks FilmCarp, didn't know about them.

The Union Plaza diner on Route 22 in Union has one that runs above the bar.

If you are into trains at all go to one of their Christmas shows. They are generous with advice and conversations, and extremely kid friendly. The layout is huge. They let my then 6 year old get his hands on the main controller and he immediately shut the whole system down by accident. They all laughed and made sure he knew it was no big deal.

Such a grea idea! My son, now in his 40s, has taken his train set that

we got for him at around the age of ten, for his kids to enjoy, we always kept it in good shape.

I put up something like this every year for Christmas - lots of work but lots of fun!

I did PM you! Try asking for advice here http://www.modeltrainforum.com/ , they will not build it for ya, but you can ask questions as to what your going to need for the display.
