Sheena Collum for Village President (SheenaCollum.com)

Neighbors,

I am asking for your support for a 2nd term to serve this amazing community as Village President. It has been a very rewarding experience for me personally and I hope to continue the progress we've made together.

Six weeks from today (May 14th), residents will go to the polls and decide between two candidates for Village President (myself and and a 12-year incumbent who is currently serving as a Trustee) and nine new candidates vying for three seats on the Board of Trustees.

Please visit the following link where you can learn more about my experience, my accomplishments, and the critical issues I will focus on if re-elected to a second term. You can also volunteer, request a lawn sign, or make a donation (every bit helps!)

We also have 15 upcoming events currently scheduled and I hope you will find time to join. Tonight I will be in West Montrose, tomorrow in Tuxedo Park, Thursday in Newstead and Sunday in Upper Wyoming.

Whatever you decide, please make a plan to vote on Tuesday, May 14.

And lastly, long before the social media craze of Facebook and Twitter, MOL was here providing our community a way to engage in conversation about local issues. To Dave/Jamie, we will absolutely purchase an ad here and thank you for providing this service to our towns.

Thank you, Sheena, for posting on MOL.  You are the most communicative Village President we've ever had.

Sheena - I saw this item on your website and I was never aware of it.

  • Audited all prior redevelopment projects, resulting in $500k in revenue.

I wish the website came up first when we Google "Sheena Collum." Doesn't even appear on my first page of hits.

Cramer - I'm sorry for the delayed response, I apologize for not seeing this sooner. Yes, I requested an audit of all prior financial agreements with respect to redevelopment projects. A prior project had not submitted their final numbers on 2% of construction costs that had been agreed to and was paying the minimum annual service charge prior to the full accounting. Upon review, the Village received a check for the municipal revenues that had not been received.

Some more good work:

"A new 12-hour schedule for South Orange Police will save the department and town money and — more importantly — will increase public safety, according to Village President Sheena Collum.

At the August 22 South Orange Board of Trustees meeting, Collum announced that, after years of negotiations and work, the township and the two police unions (PBA Local 12 and the Superior Officers Association) had struck an agreement moving police from 10-hour-and-40-minute shifts to 12-hour shifts.

Collum said the impetus for the shift in shifts came out of a 2011 police best practices study commissioned by the Board of Trustees and conducted by the International City/County Management Association that suggested “looking at the inefficiency of the schedule.” The 10-hour-40-minute shifts were leading to massive overtime, said Collum — around a half million dollars annually in recent years."
