We've done it a few times over the past 15 years or so, and it has ranged from decent to actively bad on the food side. I'm assuming it must survive as a bar. Sadly not consistent enough to be the destination for less expensive and family-friendly steak and drinks.
Dis away, but it was also the site (well, the patio, anyhow) of a nice f2f... They carried my favorite brew, too.

Cannot remember what it was before it was Scotty's...
Anyone
Walter's Two Bars. BTW, it is in Springfield, not Millburn.
Ditto the food at Scottys. Friends and I went there about 4 years ago. Wed. was ribs night. Ribs came out slightly cold.
As Meir Kahane once said,
Had probably the most inedible steak there several years ago. It was beyond bad and just saw no reason for a follow up visit.
Yeah, it's pretty bad all round. I did go for the comedy cove thing one night, and it was a dire experience from beginning to end.
Agree that the food is dreadful. A number of f to f gatherings were held there over the years so certain persons could smoke at the outside bar.
They have a new chef, Terrence, and the food has gotten better. Myself and my buddies go there for the liters of beer.

I went to one of those f2fs, I suppose for that very reason. Don't remember much about the food. The drinks were OK, as far as I recall. Honestly, I found the place unmemorable.
I tended bar there a few years ago, for a few months. I won't disagree with any of the comments above. At the time, the place was managed by the son of the owner (Defcon will know his name) and he was a pretty uncultivated fellow, to put it mildly.
Rules for the bar were nasty, too. For example, I was instructed to open ALL the bottles of red wine when they came up from the cellar and store [dozens of] them under the bar where they may not get used for days or weeks. I suggested we open the when we use them and he insisted, in his brutish way, that they all be opened ahead of time so the bartenders didn't have to waste time opening them when customers order wine. That just cranked my cradle.
I've been back a few times - a few of the bartenders were fun, and not unattractive.
Among my best customers when I tended bar there was Defcon.

As if there would have been any doubt.
worst restaurant experience EVER. Place smelled of old beer, food was cooked poorly, seemed old and smelled old.
Comedy was weak but at least better than the restaurant.
Went there once many years ago. It's kind of like a restaurant that the DMV runs.
We went there last summer with a few friends for a comedy night Groupon. The food was just okay. It's bar food so not really a high expectation. Two of the three comedians were very funny so we had a good time. The entertainment took place upstairs in a rather dingy looking room and the service was slow. Downstairs is the restaurant.
That was a lovely UF2F, Soda, outside on the tiki bar on a warm summer day, organized by HarleyQuinn, where I met, among others, Boomie, DoubleTee, PeggyC, USMFTFan, OneoftheGirls, Wolfie, and DefCon, who Defconned me into trying some of his unbelievable hotsauce. Even Letters was there anonymously spying on everyone across the tiki, until he outed himself 2/3 of the way through the event. The drinks were fine, food was edible, atmosphere great. Since then I've had a decent burger and drink at the bar a few times, plus one of the worst dinners of my life after Hurricane Sandy, waiting to be served horrible food after about 2 and 1/2 hours. So, all in all, I'd go back for a quick drink and burger, definitely return for a tiki reunion, but never again for dinner.

Perhaps we can organize a couple more UF2F's this summer at the Tiki Bar. They really were a lot of fun.

Sure, everyone above would be thrilled to go back there.
I can't think of a better place from which I'd like to drive home drunk.

What's the scoop on Scotty's? It looks intriguing in a "throwback to the early 90's" kind of way. Is it good? (Food, Comedy, Experience, etc.)?
