Any of the helmets sold in bike shops (and even in stores like Target) have to meet federal standards for safety. I would have her focus on a comfortable fit even though the helmets for even middle-aged-males-in-lycra seem to have priorities in color and design, for aerodynamics and airflow and other buzzwords.
A good basic helmet, whatever the color or design should be fine for her - AS LONG AS SHE WEARS IT! That's why I'd go with a good fit, whatever the manufacturer. Being willing to wear it is key 'cause you won't always be there to make sure she puts it on. Helmets for a 10-year old shouldn't be so expensive as to break the bank, btw so don't worry.
Not only wear the helmet, but wear it correctly. Often I see kids with the helmet pushed back on the head. The
idea is to not have the forehead exposed.
