Rovers on an Asteroid

So the humans at the Japan Space Agency landed two working rovers on the surface of an asteroid. They move by hopping around in the weak gravity of the asteroid, called Ryugu.

Despite how low we can get (see subjects of about half of MOL thread), we can still do astonishing things.

Awesome.  Thanks for posting.

It's pretty amazing. The main spacecraft Hayabusa 2 will return to Earth with samples.

I wish I was better informed on all these missions. They're stunning examples of human ingenuity and hard work.

I have a certain section blocked. It makes things far more pleasant here. But also much quieter so I'm trying to spur some discussion in other areas.

The clarity of some of the imagery made me think of the continuing conspiracy theories around the moon landing... cheese  But those bots sound cute and clever, very neat design work.

(It's a pity they're going to blast copper missiles into the surface to get their 'material samples'. Seems so destructive - why do we have blow stuff up wherever we go?? Also, I wonder why they chose copper?)
