Repair/replace crank on casement window?

Anyone know if or how the crank mechanism on a casement window can be fixed?  It's actually one of the newest and best windows in our house, but when we crank it in, it won't come the final inch or so in order to be latched shut.  If there is a contractor (handyman?) who can do this for a reasonable price, even better!

We have the same issue with one of our newer Pella windows in the kitchen. What we found is if its a larger wood frame window, the issue could be that the frame and window have swollen. The leverage of the crank mechanism in the final inch of travel is next to nothing. This is especially true if the window is hinged on the side instead of the top (the top hinge has gravity on its side). So if the window is tight, its really hard for it to close.

We ended up sanding the edges of both the window and the jambs. Not so easy but it works better now. If you have painted it, the humidity will also cause the paint to stick sometimes. you might try stripping the paint?
