Receptacle will not accept plugs.

Jan 20, 2026 at 12:35pm

A dedicated line was put in about 5 years ago - two inputs. Yes, I know about the big and little inputs.

I took the plugs out to reposition the microwave and now either inlet will accept the three pronged plug. It looks like there iare grey plates covering the four inlets.

I cannot help in this area but I can suggest you edit your query a bit more. For starts I assume you mean neither instead of either.  I do not know about big and little inputs but I frankly am confused that somehow you cannot use the same "receptable" (meaning outlet?) as before.

can you post up a picture of the receptacle? Is it the tamper resistant ones?

aka the ones you can’t plug anything into!  blank stare

Sometimes you have to start with angling the ground plug in first rather than going straight in.

We sometimes have that problem with the outlets in our kitchen.  I think it's a safety type cover that goes into place when you pull the plug out.  Anyway, we position the plug in the outlet slots and then wiggle and push (usually wiggle side to side).  Eventually, whatever is in the way moves and the plug goes in.  Hope it works for you!

I had no idea there was even a new William S. Burroughs book out.

Turns out, it is a child safety feature.

Problem solved.

Un, you meant ‘for starters, not for ‘for starts’, right??? 😆👍

I believe those are the actual official instructions that come with the outlets

FWIW< There is a website, Democratic Underground. When I have problems like this, I post on

MOL and DU.   One or the other or both, I usually get the problem solved.

Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time

a blast from the past

they're still around?
