Painting a scratch on a car?

Car mavens--does this have to be a $1000 plus job? Is there someone who can just sand and re-paint? How hard is it to find/get  the matching paint?

Thank you for any insights!

Upload a pic, lets take a look at how bad. Depending on how deep and the size most body shops may want to do the whole door in order for it blend in properly. Otherwise yes you will be able to tell. If it was me, I would want it to blend.

I can give you an example. I had a rocker panel on my car damaged by a parking garage in NYC. After getting them to pay for the damage, I got 3 estimates of $600-700. An the shop ordered an OEM rocker panel in that cost at $200'ish

The rocker panel is ABS plastic, so all the body shop had to do was paint and attach. Easier then a door. These were all estimates at 3 local SOMA places.

I got into a fender bender last year and my rear left bumper was heavily scratched. The price I was given to buff it out and repaint was about $700.

try carsmetics on rt 22 by the home depot and home goods

very well priced and they specialize in this stuff vs full out auto body repair

It looks like Carsmetics in our area is out of business. Any other similar ideas? I'm not that fussy and plan to keep the car...just would like to avoid rust. Thank you!

Someone posted in SWAP Lounge about a guy that does work like this for less than $200...can't remember his name
