NJ Transit Home Value Map

Interesting article/clickable map on NJ.com:

Near what NJ Transit stops can you afford (and not afford) to buy a home?
The map below shows how much a home is worth surrounding every NJ Transit stop in New Jersey.
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2015/06/nj_transit_home_value_map_on_which_stops_can_you_a.html

We found the median home values using Census data for the immediate area surrounding the train stops. For the stops in non-residential areas, like Newark Airport, we used the closest Census block to the stop.

Note: The bigger the circle stations are, the higher the home value.
Keep in mind that home values around New Jersey train station stops are generally higher than areas further away.
In addition, we created a chart that chronicles the ups and downs as you travel along the NJ Transit lines.
The biggest jump from one stop to the next happens in the North Jersey Coast line where home values go from $256,700 at the Long Branch stop to $990,900 at the Elberon stop. The North Jersey Coast line, which goes along the Jersey shore, has some of the highest home values.

Coming from PA, basically all of the median home values seem insane to me.

I couldn't get the link to work. Pasting a working one here:

And how much more your commute will cost after the (proposed) fare hike...

Doesn't make sense. Mountain Station has a median house of $514, 000 and South Orange has $446 K?

It's also annoying that they didn't continue the prices all the way down each line.

Makes sense to me because of all those big houses in the Montrose area near Mountain Station.

There are plenty of condos and smaller houses by the SO station as well. Seems to be something that was just done automatically. Good for 'fun', but not always good for anything too deep.

@meganlibrarian You can see values to the end of the lines, just click and drag the map to move it into the frame
