It says they included input from the community during the search. I have kids in the district and I did not receive a single communication about the search.... just saying.

Yeah I don’t remember hearing any request for input.
Okay I lied. There was a community survey and a forum back in February.
I’m leaving my prior incorrect post as a memorial to how dopey I can be.
Yeah, I wouldn't call that including the public. Just say you like the guy without adding BS window dressing
I'm not going to read any of that. Anyone want to put odds on when will be the 'community input' period to replace this one?
Using the word 'next' seems exactly correct.
Good luck with this guy. He’s been in so many school districts in the last ten years it begs the question… why? Why did he change his name to bing? Did they vet this guy properly? It was he given the position after one interview? I don’t think he’s gonna last two years in SOMA. Unbelievable!

According to the reports, Bing has worked at two districts in the last 11 years: Jersey City from 2013-21 and Dutchess County since then.
Before that he served two years each in Barnegat and Bloomfield. Those stints were short, but not by a lot: Nationally, it’s believed — hard data is scarce — that superintendents typically serve three to six years before moving on.

Not I.

Yes, it does.
Well, maybe he will be okay. why the rabid attacks before he even starts? Is that what Maplewood online has become?
It’s not the first time I’ve heard rumors which are not borne out by facts. My wife said she heard that he’s been in three different jobs in the last three years, and that he hasn’t had his contract renewed anywhere, but that’s apparently untrue.
The only fact I could come up with is from a public notice regarding a March 22 meeting of the Board of Trustees of Dutchess BOCES. They voted to accept his resignation effective August 31. Presumably they then allowed him an early exit since he’s starting here on July 1.

There’s nothing nefarious there. There are many reasons, personal and professional, why he may have chosen to resign.
His use of different last names also puzzles me a little, but people have done stranger things. Again it doesn’t point to anything other than a personal choice. Someone who was trying to hide his identity would surely be aware how easy it was to use the internet to find out his other name. It’s even possible the SOMSD press release was written incorrectly.

Studies show that our school district is single-handedly depressing the average tenure of superintendents.

Seems to me Maplewood in general can be a pretty tough crowd, for superintendents, for pastors, maybe others. IOW, what tjohn said.
The BOE has a recent track record of bad hires for the Superintendent job. I hope they changed that trend with Mr. Bing.

what if he changed his last name because he got married ?
It is hard to imagine, but there actually is a small possibility that the new Super, after being given a chance, may actually do a decent job.

In some ways, it's what MOL has always been about: A place to say what you think, play with peoples' heads, keep lines of communication open, have a little fun, and call out & discipline those who got out of hand and were just being mean--behind the anonymity of usernames. Some chose "The Lounge" where people are supposed to identify themselves. But long-timers know the real people behind most pseudonyms, unless they've been changed occasionally.
I have no dog in this fight anymore, (my kids are out of the school system15 years or so). But education and school quality have always been extremely important to me (for the good of the country, in addition to just our two towns). To me, the number of jobs he's had indicates he's likely NOT been part of the hard work of turning a system around. My guess is he has little experience with the thorny sort of problems our schools face, which can take years to clearly identify, fix, and keep improving upon.
But I won't try to predict. I wish him well; hope he has breakthrough ideas about how to provide the best education to ALL our children without leaving ANY behind. I cross my fingers and hope for the best.
So clearly if you lived in a different district you would not want to hire Frank Sanchez after what he has been through.
Charge of endangering the welfare of a child against Frank is dropped. Gilbert is gone. Frank will probably sue the district, more money to be paid out unnecessarily.
What rabid attacks? Asking why someone changes jobs so frequently is a rabid attack? I’m sure you go to a job interview and a resume like his people would be curious…

that's the crap I was referring to. Instant condemnation.

Four district changes in 15 years. Two in the last 11.

There are any number of benign personal reasons that a person might decide to hyphenate a surname or go back to a single name. Just as there are any number of benign personal reasons for choosing to use a pseudonym on a community chat board.

The prosecutor's office dropped the charge? When? That is good news.

That is good news but much damage has been done.
To be clear, the prosecutor did not "drop the charges." Prosecutor presented the case to a grand jury and the grand jury declined to indict him on the charges. Grand jury deserves the credit (though, as I understand it, the prosecutor deserves credit for permitting Principal Sanchez to testify before the grand jury, which he did and presumably the reason why it declined to indict him).
