New Commute - What is the best way to get to the World Financial Center?

Mr. SS starts a new job next week working downtown at the World Financial Center. We've been trying to figure out the best way to get there using mass transit. We think the fastest way will be to take NJ Transit to Hoboken and then take the Path train downtown. It looks like the trip will take about an hour and ten to fifteen minutes. Does anyone else here commute to the World Financial Center? Would very much appreciate hearing how you get there and especially how long it takes on oth a good and a bad day. Thanks!

I commute to points east of the World Financial Center (Fulton & Broadway), and I take NJT to Hoboken and then the ferry to WFC. From there, I have an easy 10-minute walk, but people who work at WFC have an even easier 45-second walk. My commute is an hour and ten minutes on the nose, most days.

The ferry is horribly expensive, but I splurge on it because I'm not a fan of the PATH, and the ferry is so fast and so pleasant. I do take the PATH on occasion, if I'm carrying something heavy or if it's raining really hard, and it isn't terrible--it only lengthens the trip by 5-10 minutes. With either option, it's a far nicer commute than taking NJT to Penn Station

The World Financial Center is super-close to the WTC PATH station! Lucky Mr. SS! I work in the Wall Street area, and I take NJT to Hoboken, then the PATH to the WTC. Super easy commute, much less crowded than commuting through Penn, and generally much more reliable of a ride. I hop on the 7:18 out of Maplewood, and generally walk into my office at 8:20.

Most I know take NJT to Hoboken then the ferry to WFC. Steps from either transfer and the easiest commute out there. PATH obviously the other option from Hoboken, though a tad longer and a wee bit more crowded (by degrees of course) but cheaper. While the ferry is more expensive (don't know the current rates of either as I drive to JC) Mr. SS may want to ask if his company offers a monthly ferry discount-- NY Waterway has some specific deals that may bring the cost in line with the PATH, in which case it's a no-brainier IMO.

I think NJT to Hobo and then PATH is your best bet.

My office is a 12-14 min walk from WTC and net-net this route is about equal with going through Penn, b/c the Penn trip is so often delayed. So if you're closer to the WTC, through Hobes is definitely superior.

Ferry would be even better but may be cost-prohibitive. I looked at this option several years ago and it was 3x the PATH cost. I wouldn't be surprised if the differential has widened.

From MSO to World Financial is probably one of the easier NYC commutes from this area. PATH is definitely the cheaper option. a 30 day unlimited pass is $89 vs $196 for a monthly on the Ferry between Hoboken and World Financial Center

hoboken train to ny waterway ferry. so smooth.

Many thanks to all who responded and shared their experiences. We appreciate your feedback. A ferry ride sounds like a wonderful way to start and end a work day. Like ctrzaska suggested, Mr. SS is going to find out if his new employer offers a monthly ferry discount. Thank you!

Related point: on days when NJT is a nightmare, you can drive into JC and park at the Colgate lot (or the one behind me at 101 Hudson) steps from the ferry and hop it to WFC from there. (Not sure if the pass is interchangeable but could be.) The parking guys at one of them used to warm and clear snowy cars in winter and pop on the AC in summer when you'd call from the NYC side.
