Need advice ...Las Vegas?

Hubby has a business trip in first week of March at a resort nearby. Pool is heated, but temps kind of low that time of year. We can get to Vegas by complimentary shuttle any day, so I am wondering what is interesting there if we tack on a few days. Is it worth it that time of year?

personally, I wouldn't bother with Vegas when it's that cold as a destination trip. But if you are going anyway and it's just a shuttle ride, why not? Lots of excellent restaurants, beautiful hotels/casinos to look at and some great shows. If air is already covered, add 2 nts in Vegas and enjoy! Hotels will be fairly cheap.

There are several national parks relatively nearby that you could visit.  At that time of the year Death Valley, for example, should have pleasant weather.

I say yes - but it depends on what you like to do. There's Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire state park, in theory - you can do a day trip to the Grand Canyon, but it's a hike. But it may be worth it depending on the weather. There's Pawn Stars! There's the Neon Museum. A pretty decent aquarium in one of the hotels. I'm actually all for exploring places in the off season...

Red Rock is breathtaking !

Red Rock is worth the trip. All the hotel lobbies are cool. You could rent a car and drive to Bryce Canyon or other spots in Utah. Plenty to do.

Some good ideas ... I would like to go ....

if you're a Beatles fan, the "Love" Cirque du Soleil show at Mirage is fun.

I'd definitely check some of those parks in terms of weather. The Grand Canyon north rim generally closes in winter and whole area could be tricky if it's snowy.

What conandrob240 said.  Last time I visited the north rim (granted, quite a while ago), it had only just opened in late April/early May.  Other locations may also be closed, or inaccessible if there's a high pass to cross.  otoh, there's a lot of desert around Vegas that has its own charms.  And I'm sure they keep the swimming pools comfortable in LV.

I actually think many of the outdoor Vegas pools close in the winter. It gets much colder there than you'd expect. Daytime highs are typically low 50s in winter and much colder at night. Most nice hotels will have an indoor pool, of course. There are great spas as well. My favorite is Qua at Caesars.

This question will sound naive, but if I get to the "strip", can I walk to other hotels or is everything spaced far apart. I have only been to AC here in NJ.

it's like the beach block at AC ( at least before many closed). Casinos next to each other easy walking distance. Lots of escalators and foot bridges to go up and down on either side.  There's also a bus "Deuce" that runs up and down or a monorail that runs to a good portion of the hotels.

That's helpful, as I probably will not have access to a car.

no need for a car. More hassle than it's worth on the strip

Second the recommendation for Cirque LOVE - supposed to be a really good production.

Love's good but O is still the best Cirque show of all time!

Oh yah....O is fabulous too!  Can't speak to LOVE, I've just heard it's beautiful, but I have seen O it's wonderful.
