Reporting lost or stolen plates
If your plates were stolen or you have lost them, you must first obtain replacement plates at any Agency or Regional Service Center . While you are there, you will need to complete a Vehicle Registration/Plate Status Form (BA-1) that states that the plates were lost or stolen and gives you verification status keep this in a safe place as proof that you notified MVC.
You can also notify MVC in writing. Write a statement describing what happened and include a police report if they were stolen. Include your name, mailing address and license plate number. Send mail to:

You will receive verification of the updated license plate status in the mail. Save the verification in a safe place as proof that you notified MVC.
