Looking for a Lower East Side bar/restautant reco...

... specifically in the Hester, Canal. Ludlow, Allen St. sector.

     Thanks!

Hmm, I'm better in Soho area - The Meatball Shop is down there - I was there once and liked it.   Sweet Chick is down there also - not sure how much of a bar they have.

If you want to venture a little west - there's Ed's Lobster Bar on Lafayette - Tacombi is a cool place for Tacos and further down is Burger and Barrels - get the BASH burger.

Thanks, Jamie. We're going to a movie at the Metrograph on Ludlow and wanted to find a place near there. I'll check those out.

Russ & Daughters (the cafe, not the store) is not far.

If I was down in that area - I would like to check out this place:

Where did you end up?

Glad you asked. We found a place called MISSION CHINESE FOOD at 171 East Broadway. Food was amazing, original, spicy, clever and hip.The farthest thing possible from standard Szechuan fare. I subsequently looked for reviews and the NYT gave it two stars, none too shabby for a place that's as much a club as a restaurant. Some reviews say its best days are behind it, but we loved it.
