But butter is $30/lb.
Just kidding! I wonder if I can man up enough to throw some lobsters in a pot this weekend...
They steam them for you for free.

I always ask them to steam them a little less than the usual time because they end up continuing to cook when the are wrapped in the foil and get overdone.
Oh I know they'll steam them for free, but sometimes they're busy. Plus the timing is best when it goes:
Without any car rides in between!
i feel intense sadness when cooking, but lobsters are so amazing. My 3 yr old cries when we crack them open though. He may be traumatized.
Thank you!! I think we should keep a lobster and cherry alert thread going all summer long!
I don't agree with Klinker. I love to eat lobster, clams, mussels and scallops. If I can't kill them myself by throwing them in boiling water, I am more than happy to have some one do it for me. Deliciousness out wins nasty any day. Bring it on!
Ooh, I forgot crabs. Yum. And raw clams and oysters. Are you kidding me?

does anyone know if they are hardshell or soft shell?
The ones I got on Friday were very, very hard shell. But well worth the effort it took to crack them

Cooking anything alive is just plain nasty.
As my parents used to say when the kids would go "yuck" -- MORE FOR US!!!!! LOL!
I don't know. There was a kid when I was growing up who was caught cooking cats this way. It just turned me off to the boiling alive thing. Hard to get that image out of my head. My loss perhaps...
Understandable Klinker however, I don't think of lobsters as pets, more like delicious huge palmetto bugs of the sea.
I have fished for fish and skinned them. I have bought live lobsters and cooked them. Based on the nervous system I think I am being kinder by plunging the lobsters head first into boiling water over the flopping around fish. I have also plunged a knife into a lobster's neck prior to baking. That was hard to do. I once decided to only eat what I could kill. That's why I always continued to eat fish of all kinds. Yum and not nasty. Also my best times were spent on my friend's lobster boat, baiting the traps and tossing them back when told to.
When I was in my Shop Rite here at the shore this morning they announced that the lobsters were hard shell.

Would that happen to be the Shop-Rite of Bayville -- voted #1 Shop-Rite of 2014???
went to Millburn, they were out of lobsters and would not give me a rain check.
went to WO, bought 2 2.5 lb lobsters for 6.99 lb. They are hardshells and tagged New Foundland.
Having in about 10 minutes
$6.99 lobsters are back in stock Millburn store today. I just finished making lobster rolls served on buttered toasted potato buns.
