Joni Mitchell Reported to be in a coma

News outlets are saying Joni Mitchell has fallen into a coma with little chance of recovery.

Always liked her eclectic musical career. She hasn't performed or released new music in a number of years because of health issues.

I had a very funny feeling this was the case when she was first reported to be found unresponsive and only sketchy info was provided after that.  What a shame.

Very sad.  She has a unique voice and outlook.  You don't often find that kind of originality.

Oh, no! What a loss to the music world.

Ugh, I hope she's okay. She is an honest-to-goodness genius. That gorgeous, quirky approach harmony, that voice, that poetry. There's no one like her.

So....Joni Mitchell's website says she's going to make a full recovery....

"Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma. Joni is still in the hospital - but she comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected"

 But a friend filed for conservatorship because she can't make decisions for herself.  I do hope she gets that full recovery and soon!

I noticed yesterday that the language in some of the articles talking about the court filing did not say anything about a coma, only that she would not be able to go to court or deal with this stuff herself for a few months, IIRC.

I'd be quite happy if the news reports were all wrong about this. Sadly, she is clearly in very bad health, so I offer up some positive vibes for her recovery and quality of life.

I am heartbroken about Joni Mitchell.  My brother and mother-- now gone -- loved Joni.  My mother's favorite was "Shadows and Light."  My brother loved everything Joni.  He first tuned me in to her with "Court and Spark."  I wore the groves off of "The Hissing of Summer Lawns."

So whenever I hear her music or any news about her failing health, it really pulls my heart strings in more ways than one; the heartache that inevitably comes with the passage of time.
