JoJo Moyes and Liane Moriarity..good summer reading. Also Kristin Hannah especially The Nightingale..Not funny but I couldn't put it down
Also, for bibliophiles..The Storied Life of A.J. Fikrey by G. Zevin..No one that took my recommendation to read it has been sorry,
In The Unlikely Event by Judy Blume is getting released this summer. It is set In the 1950s in Elizabeth, NJ. I think it might be hammock worthy.
I like YA novels and just read Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell and loved it - I think it's good even if not a YA. I had previously read and liked her book Attachments as well.
"Call the Midwife" trilogy by Jennifer Worth. I was a fan of the show before I read the books.
I'm not sure what your guys' hammocks look like, but until my oak trees stop vomiting all over my yard the hammock is a disaster zone.
True, it's not a good idea to even put out the hammock until the trees are done spewing pollen. Too hard to clean!

I've fortunately had good luck hosing it off, but everytime I hose it off, some other round of junk falls on it. It looks nice though, so we leave it out in the yard.
I was looking for the thread about books set in SOMA and can't find it, but in any case, it's still a great summer read - Judy Blume's new adult novel, In the Unlikely Event. It's been a while since I loved a book so deeply. It is set in Elizabeth, but mentions both South Orange, Maplewood, and Millburn, plus lots of other local spots in Newark. Based on a true "place and a time" - Elizabeth, 1951-1952, and the three real plane crashes in a 3 month span. I only wish I could read it again for the first time.
I just finished Crazy Rich Asians. it's perfect for a light summer read
"The Girl on the Train" by Paula Hawkins. Also, "In the Unlikely Event" by Judy Blume.
Emily and Einstein by Linda Francis Lee. I read this in one day. Great hammock or beach reading.
I recently finished Lisa Scottoline's "Why My 3rd Husband Will Be a Dog". Not one of her legal mysteries, but rather a lot of funny, short newspaper columns, each with a punch line, that had me laughing out loud. A quick, fun read.
I'm in the middle of Liane Moriarty's "The Husband's Secret" and am really enjoying it.
I only wish I had a hammock!
+1 on both!

Curious. How are people reading these days, ebook or print?
I'm still reading books in print, but am buying an iPad soon and plan to try to convert
On my IPad mini most of the time. Although I prefer reading a book in print, I like the convenience of being able to download a book when I want. Also, my bookshelves are full, so I appreciate not adding another book to my clutter

Looking for light, funny, smart recommendations. Recently read and loved This is Where I Leave You (Jonathan Tropper). That kind of thing....
