Iman Shumpert get 4-year contract for $40 million

Is it me or is this contract insane (within the context of NBA salaries which are all insane)?

insane. Cavs must have money to burn, or Lebron's threat to leave if they dont spend has them scared to death.

He seemed like a role player at best during the NBA Finals and now he's getting $10M a year.

I guess they wanted to ensure they would have a guy who actually plays defense and doesn't shoot first. Now let's contrast it with the contract the Knicks gave (Who Shot) J.R. Smith.

no question I'd prefer to have Shump than JR but really thats monopoly money for a guy who isnt that good.

but if you have the Big Three under contract, and if LeBron likes him, and he is a good teammate and plays really good defense (if the Big Three is healthy, they don't need him to shoot, and that he wont require # of shots a game is a positive then)...and he is still young for all that...it isn't out of the question money.

The contract the Knicks gave JR looks cheap compared to the money handed out this week. At least his stats warranted the contact (18 pts/game in 2012/13). Smith is a head case but someone will give him more than he was due to make next year.
