Hugin Ad Gets 4 Pinocchios

it might be the most dishonest political ad of all time.

The problem is that Menendez is a slimeball too, just not in the manner being depicted by Hugin.  I despair at having to vote for either.

As they say, "Yes, but he's our slime ball."

Given the cast of characters with no character in the Senate, his vote is important.

Bob Menendez has been aggressively investigated for decades.  And all they've got on him is that he accepted expensive gifts from a friend but didn't disclose them properly.  Gifts that would have been perfectly above board if he had declared them.

Given the widespread conflicts of interest and perfectly legal influence peddling in Congress, I don't find Menendez's actions all that concerning.  Certainly not in comparison to how lobbyists and contributors already have dozens of senators in their pockets.  The worst corruption in our system is perfectly legal.

Don't worry, there is no way I'll be voting for Hugin.  As an aside, his campaign signs are all over the wealthier parts of Essex, Morris, Somerset and Hunterdon Counties!

Voters simply have had enough of Trump.

Monmouth University Polling:  Menendez Leads Hugin for Senate

Trump more important factor to voters than incumbent

West Long Branch, NJ – Bob Menendez holds a lead of between 9 and 12 points over Bob Hugin in the former’s bid for a third full term in the U.S. Senate, according to the latest Monmouth University Poll. While voters tend to hold a negative view of the Democratic incumbent, most feel that the behavior that led to his recent trial was probably no worse than what most other politicians do. Regardless of how they feel about Menendez, voters say that President Donald Trump is ultimately a bigger factor in their choice for Senate.

In the pantheon of political slime-balls, Trump out-slimes all.  grrr  Although Trump's name doesn't appear on any ballot, he is fueling electorate sentiment.

I bet it's going to get worse.

If you want to see a grotesque ad...

How is that link going to Facebook?   MAYBE DO NOT CLICK ON THE "FOLLOW LINK" OR "GO BACK" BUTTONS.  Just close the tab.

Menendez has horrible staffers..but I suspect Hugin would have the same problem.  It used to be that if you had an issue, you could write your rep, the staffer would respond/pass along the issue to the appropriate office.  for example, if it was a problem with medicare and you were going in circles trying to resolve it, the staffer would forward your complaint to them which would get their attention and it would get resolved.

But, now if I contact a rep about medicare, they give an unrelated response about food stamps.   I've had the same issue with state reps...and are of no help at all.

I saw the Hugin ad last evening ("Jeopardy" is a favorite for political ad placement, apparently).  Very deceptive and sleazy.  Hugin must figure that he has so much baggage that "Menendez violated the rules by not reporting gifts" just isn't enough of a talking point for him.

I would also suspect that Hugin's internal polling is showing the same thing that the most recent public polls are showing -- he's way behind in this race.  And the latest ads are the flailings of a desperate man.

Your House rep. is the one to contact about problems with gov.t agencies. Not the senator. I have never contacted Paine about anything so I have no evaluation of his staff's service.

Regarding the state, Mila Jasey's office has been promptly responsive to problems I have had with state agencies.

First and foremost this election is about Trump.  Trump toxicity has managed to ensure Menendez' reelection to the U.S. Senate -- despite his corruption scandals.  Even when Hugin threw in allegations of Menendez canoodling with underage girls, it was no deal breaker when it comes to Trump. grrr

Stockton Poll:  Menendez Leads Hugin 51 to 39 Percent

https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/politics/elections/2018/11/02/bob-menendez-lead-over-bob-hugin-grows-new-nj-senate-poll/1859062002/

Menendez led Hugin 51 percent to 39 percent among likely voters, according to the new poll taken last Friday through Wednesday. The Oct. 1 poll had Menendez at 45 percent and Hugin at 43 percent.

As with earlier surveys by other universities, Stockton found more people with an unfavorable opinion of Menendez outnumber those with a favorable opinion 42 percent to 22 percent. But voters have an even lower opinion of President Donald Trump, with 52 percent saying he does a poor job, 10 percent a fair job, and 37 percent a good or excellent job. Asked to pick the biggest factor in deciding their votes from choices offered, 36 percent chose "control of the Senate," 35 percent chose "President Donald Trump," 19 percent chose "Menendez's former corruption charges" and 4 percent said "Hugin's actions regarding drug prices."

We must not become complacent. Assuming Menendez is ahead and will win so its OK skip voting or vote third party would be a mistake. That's how elections are lost. All it takes is for 1 in 10 Menendez voters not voting to wipe out his lead.

Hugin is a strong Trump supporter. He supported Trump with very large donations before the 2016 election. We don't want more of that toxicity in congress.

Vote Menendez, no matter what the polls show, even if noses need to be held. Do not let complacency or third party bs cost this election.

The allegation about underage prostitutes were made in an anonymous statement which, I believe, was given to the FBI. Certain prostitutes came forward to make these charges and then recanted saying they were paid to make up lies. The FBI said there was no evidence.

Hugin said "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" does not apply because "this is a job interview not a trial. But he took thee exact opposite position with Kavanaugh.  In essence Hugin believes prostitutes and disbelieves Prof Blasey Ford.

While I don't encourage the implied opinion that prostitutes should not be believed relative to Dr. Blasey-Ford, the women who claimed to have been prostitutes that Menendez patronized have since recanted.

They now deny being prostitutes and say they were paid to make false accusations, which does make them less believable relative to Dr. Blasey- Ford.
