Help Me Understand Brexit/UK Mess

So. It’s the end of January 2020. They’ve sung Auld Lang Syne in the European Parliament, and apparently (as the adage goes) it’s all over ‘bar the shouting’.
Do we really believe it?

Do we understand what happens next?

(Will Adam Hills’ beard really be shaven off??)

I hope Adam Hills beard will finally go, it’s beyond Isambard Kingdom Brunel levels now. It’s like steampunk cosplay at this point.

Just over 12 hours to go...

At least they didn't pick up the flag and just chuck it out a window.

It’s about what it deserved, but fair play to Europe for being the grown ups in this scenario.

I can’t wait for the next season of Bake Off when every week is Steak and Kidney Pie Week.

smile

I’ll probably see the highlights on YouTube. Whoever was posting whole shows doesn’t do it anymore.

Yeah, I miss that.
Here you go - the Outside Broadcast is hysterical

I’ve been reading some articles on people’s reactions to the event (I’m sure some MOLers have too, as distraction from home events). Interesting to see what people have, and haven’t, realised would change as a result of this action.
It’s also quite scary to think normally intelligent adults expect fully functioning modern business and tech advantages to apply seamlessly in a decades-old diplomatic and trade bubble.

Caught the Tom Allen bit, it was amazing! That poor guy!

...and life in the UK carries on as usual, however...

And, the coda ("I didn't think White Britons were also going to have to wait on the bloody lines!")

We're not yet sure of this is a joke, despite this guy's hot takes on all sorts of other stuff.

I like this tweet about Carling lager. Brewed in the UK, but owned by the Molson Coors Brewing Co.

A good example of someone who gets their 'news' from social media

Any word on Boris’ health?

He’ll be back at work next week apparently,  according to the UK media.

From the Guardian:

A report in the Daily Telegraph suggested Johnson, who has been recuperating at Chequers, could return to work on Monday. While Downing Street said the PM was yet to work on his “red box” of official papers as usual, his official spokesman said he was regularly receiving updates on the coronavirus response and had had calls with Raab, the foreign secretary, and Hancock, the health secretary.

However another Tory told the Guardian the prime minister should not rush back to work as other ministers were coping.

They said: “For Boris there’s no rush and the priority is that he has got to be fully ready. Matt Hancock has been a hero throughout this and worked tirelessly.”

This is good to hear, Joanne. Thank you.
