Friends/Family Group Chat

Looking for some ideas to make our chats a little more fun. Thinking along the lines of having everyone bring something etc. Any ideas or thoughts?

Ages?  Interests?  Capabilities?  What works for IRL gatherings?

Board Games Arena is a browser-based gaming website that allows interactive gaming for a few people at a time. Kots of different games. Someone needs a subscription to create a game table and invite others.

If your screens are large enough you could try pictionary or charades. The Zoom whiteboard feature can lend itself to pictionary.

Its possible to share pictures and slide shows on Zoom ... that can be fun.

I'm doing MOVIE NIGHT with my kids and their partners. We agree on a movie, we all watch it, and then we get on Zoom to talk about it, and anything else that comes up.

Last week we did PARASITE and this week we're doing The Willoughbys..

We all wear hats on the family Zooms. I've done two with my college alumni, the first, I had about ten hats, and I kept changing them. There were close to twenty of us, so we asked someone a question, then after the person answered it they had to ask someone else a question.

Also, if you can get a green background, the Zoom background is kind of fun. I did one on a beach, with a Hawaiian shirt .and sunglasses.

I'd love to get more ideas

Do you all have Netflix?  If so, check out Netflix party which lets you do this with everyone synchronized and includes a chat feature so that you can "talk" during the movie.  I believe that every participant has to have a Netflix account for this to work, though, so that's a potential constraint.

Depending on your computer camera, you may be able to play with the background even without a green screen.  Newer computers are generally able to do it.  I know mine works.  And, I agree, it's fun! If you have photos from vacations or similar, they can try to guess where you are now, for one possible activity.
