Frank Gifford RIP

He was tough. When injuries prevented him from playing he retired for a year or two. Came back and played another position where he was less likely to get banged up.

Charley Connerly and YA Tittle along with Kyle Rote............all the names this child of the times remembers.

And now this old one can look back and say "they did us proud"

Took this photo from my seat in 2013.

There's a great Gifford video on the Giants website. He talks about that comeback after the injury. http://www.giants.com/news-and-blogs/article-1/Giants-legend-Frank-Gifford-passes-away/ad64832b-8b4c-4d38-a246-cc13674bc898

I had worked with him on a film shoot for Nabisco back in the late 80's when he was on "Team Nabisco." He was a very friendly and personable person. It was a fun shoot as he had a dentist appointment after the shoot and had taken a Valium to calm him - I can't remember how many takes it took him to say "Freelinghuysen Arboretum" but we went through a lot of tape that day!

RIP Frank.

I remember as a young boy, seeing him get clobbered by Chuck Bednarick. God, it looked like he would never get up and yet a year later, he came back and was still a great player.

He was also a favorite of Wellington Mara, who treated him like an adopted son.

Great loss.

I took this picture of the Hall of Fame in Canton a short while ago today. He wasn't just a football Hall of Famer, he was a New York City Hall of Famer.

Great anecdote. Thanks, hk45.

Glad that both he and Bednarik, who also died this year, lived to a ripe old age.
