Foster care for our dog?

We are looking for a temporary and potentially permanent home for our sweet natured, four-year-old rescue dog.  My husband is having some serious health concerns, and our dog is relatively young and needs playmates (other dogs, kids).  Can a shelter foster a dog for 2-3 months?  Are there any suggestions?

What size is your dog?  Breed?  Might help in finding a potential family.

Yes, good idea.  Again, he is a middle-sized rescue dog from St. Hubert's.  We were told that he is a shepherd-mix, and it seems that he may also be part boxer and some sort of hound.  He has a sweet disposition and gets along well with our cat and other dogs and all people, although he will bark at strangers.

Seer farms (jackson) takes fosters, BUT a couple dogs died and there were criminal charges.  I don't know what ever happened to the case.  My guess is that they have too many animals and not enough staff to properly care for them.

Can you post a picture here?  That would be helpful. And maybe more details for example, is he alpha or submissive?  Walk on a leash?  Trained to be off leash?  How is he in the house?

Can you post more info and a picture? We are considering rescuing a dog.

Below are a couple of recent pictures.  He is trained to walk on a leash only (not off the leash).  He is house-broken and rather shy, but not overly submissive.  He is calm in the house most of the time, but needs to be walked and also enjoys occasional visits to the dog park.   He doesn't respond well to being left alone for more than 2 or 3 hours, and should be in a dog day-care or have a dog sitter.  He needs lots of bones and toys to play with.

The fact that he plays well with other dogs and is well socialized is a big plus!  I hope things work out for you and him.

So cute. Sadly our 14 year old lab has grown antisocial in her dotage.
